Sinn Model T50 Titanium Watch Review

The masculine aesthetics of the new Sinn Model T50 watch extend the brand’s successful heritage in manufacturing no-nonsense tool watches for underwater exploration. Whether you’re a professional diver or an amateur, or whether you even dive at all - the new Sinn Model T50 Titanium watch is yet another robust and sturdy mechanical dive watch packed with so many of Sinn’s innovative dive features that it would be criminal not to add this new bold and hefty tool watch to your growing collection this year.

One of the key features of the new Sinn Model T50 watch is its Captive Safety Bezel which puts the safety and health of the diver at the forefront of the design. Crafted from bead-blasted titanium, the new Model T50 watch is lightweight on the wrist and incredibly scratch-resistant thanks to Sinn’s additional case hardening technology. The captive dive bezel has a guard that prevents accidental mis-adjustment whilst underwater. What’s more, its highly readable dial has colour-differentiated luminous points that make reading the minutes and the bezel in blue easy to separate from the hours in green. As well as a 500-meter water resistance, the watch wears comfortably on the wrist with a saltwater-resistant titanium bracelet that is incredibly robust. Let’s look at some of Sinn’s technological features that add to this new and bold Model T50 dive watch.

Sinn’s TEGIMENT technology

To enhance your experience of diving with the new Sinn Model T50 watch, experts at the Frankfurt-based company raise the hardness of its titanium case with something called TEGIMENT technology. The technology was first developed back in 2003 and featured in the 756 Duochronograph watch. Having only been offered in stainless steel initially, Sinn’s innovative TEGIMENT technology now refers to all case materials that have been hardened using this special process. Once the surface of the material has been hardened, it becomes significantly more scratch resistant than before.

The captive diver’s bezel

Here’s how your diving experience with a Sinn watch gets even better. This diving bezel works in a different way than conventional snap-in mechanisms and is most notably seen in the brand’s T1, T2 and U1000 series. Not only does the new Sinn Model T50 prevent the rotating bezel from accidentally becoming knocked (therefore increasing elapsed time underwater), but the special design prevents the bezel from detaching from the case altogether. The method to remember when manipulating the anti-twist mechanism of the bezel in the new Sinn Model T50 watch is to press first then turn.

Sinn’s Ar-Dehumidifying Technology

Thanks to Sinn’s Ar-Dehumidifying Technology, the movement of the new Sinn Model T50 watch is mounted in a nearly anhydrous atmosphere which prevents the ageing of oils caused by harmful air and moisture locked within the cavities of the case. This process prevents the fogging up of the crystal on the case in cold conditions. These elaborate measures carried out by Sinn experts ensure that moisture and air cannot seep into the seals of the case, protecting the movement and its lubricating oils for years and years to come.

Whilst many dive watches by Sinn are crafted from submarine stainless steel for its incredible robustness and durability, the new Sinn Model T50 watch is crafted from lightweight bead-blasted titanium and is water-resistant to 500 meters. It measures a diameter of 41mm and comes complete on a titanium bracelet or a grey silicone strap stamped with the Sinn logo. Sinn ensures its dive watches are tested to the exacting standards of DNV and fits this model with a strong piece of sapphire crystal glass. Behind this glass and underneath the dial of this watch is the Sellita SW300-1. This highly capable automatic movement comprises 25 jewels and produces a 42-hour power reserve once fully wound. It also performs at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour and features basic seconds, hours, minutes and a date window that is displayed on a simple black baton index dial. To finish, the crown is secured into the case at the 4 o’clock position to avoid applying undesirable pressure to the back of the hand.
