With new red, green and yellow liveries, these three 43mm TAG Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph watches capture the spirit of the racetrack and come fitted on matching coloured textured rubber straps for a practical and comfortable fit around the wrist.

Tapping into the industry’s colour-loving audience, the new TAG Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph watches are both vivid and eye-catching with their new and bright colourways that are sure to attract plenty of attention on the wrist. Racing-inspired hues are the order of the day, with red, green and yellow dial options that magnify the adrenaline-filled aesthetics for which the Formula 1 watch collection has become so renowned for. These sporty quartz watches are an extension to the popular collection and boast all the characteristic features that racing watch enthusiasts keep returning for.

Over the years, TAG Heuer has grown the Formula 1 watch collection with collaborative models styled on the wrists of inspirational sports personalities with bold styles that are available in a myriad of different designs. Injecting the series with a bolt of energy, these new TAG Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph colour watches come fitted on rubber straps in vivid hues that match their corresponding dial shades, appealing to younger generations of sports watch collectors, as well as the brand’s already well-established fan base.

TAG Heuer Formula watches

Representing the entry point into TAG Heuer’s universe, the Formula 1 watch collection comprises chronographs, GMT models and a range of vibrantly coloured, technical-looking sports watches. The first Formula 1 watch was released back in 1986 and was designed by Eddy Burgener, who took inspiration from popular Swatch watches at that time. The first models were crafted from stainless steel and covered in colourful fibreglass. The style of the bezel was gear-like and the Arabic numerals were enlarged for an enhanced sporty feel. Since this point in history, however, the design of the TAG Heuer Formula 1 watch has received some significant modifications. One of these changes includes the replacement of colourful fibreglass with solid stainless steel. That said, these sports watches keep their distinctive bezel design and 200-meter water resistance.

A significant change within the Formula 1 watch’s heritage came about in 2004 when TAG Heuer relegated its former colourful designs to history, replacing them with an all-steel look. These 40mm cases featured polyurethane bumpers on the sides and presented the time on cleaner dials. Today TAG Heuer’s Formula 1 watch collection signifies a growth in the case and a reintroduction of more colour once again.

The new TAG Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph colour watches

The three new models belonging to the TAG Heuer Formula 1 collection comprise a yellow, red and green iteration, framed by a black bezel bearing the familiar tachymeter scale for measuring speed based on distance. The C-shaped cases are crafted from stainless steel with a fully brushed surface effect and unchamfered lugs. The crown guards are tastefully rounded to suggest a contemporary twist. The two push-pieces and TAG Heuer logo-engraved crown are executed in a black PVD-coated finish. These match the fixed gear-toothed bezel, constituting an aggressive styling and an overall modernized take on the much-loved sports watch. This bezel style is a feature that stems right back to the collection’s second generation of the Heuer Autavia. The legible tachymeter scale upon the bezel is raised, whilst the brushed numerals suggest a straightforward finish that also adds a sense of depth to the overall design of the chronograph.

Of course, TAG Heuer is no stranger to colour, especially when it comes to the Formula 1 collection. yet these green, red and yellow models are incredibly punchy and all portray the same dial layout – rhodium-plated hands that taper, a baton hour track represented by an Arabic numeral at 12 o’clock, and a cut-out date window at 4 o’clock. The Rosso Corsa red sunburst dial option is adorned with three black azurage sub-dials laid out at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock. The contrasting white accents seen across this dial enhance readability in all conditions, helped along the way by a generous Super-LumiNova coating to all the integral parts of the display. The emerald green version boasts red highlights seen in the rings of the three sub-dials and the five minute-increments around the edge of the dial to give the watch an enhanced sporty touch. It is, the sunny yellow sunburst dial option, however, that really elevates the entire Formula 1 watch collection. It features black sub-dials and a red central chronograph seconds hand.

The new green, red and yellow TAG Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph watches for 2022 are all powered by the Ronda 5040D quartz chronograph movement  - a mainstay in the collection. The textured green, red and yellow rubber straps fitted to each respective dial colour complete a bold and attention-demanding finish to the wrist and each come equipped with a TAG Heuer-engraved stainless steel buckle.
