Calling all Rugby fans, the new Breitling Chronomat Six Nations watches have been revealed and they look incredible. Clad in colours that represent the livery of the six national teams taking part, each design limited to 150 pieces is set to be an instant sell-out and harnesses all the much-loved details of the popular Chronomat watch series. Here’s a look at the new shamrock-green coloured Breitling Chronomat B01 Six Nations Ireland Limited Edition watch
It comes as no surprise that there are six newly released Breitling watches to mark the Swiss watchmaker’s role as the Official Timekeeping Partner for the 2023 Guinness Six Nations Rugby Championships this year. The brand and the tournament will be keeping precision time in unison whilst the games play out over the next few weeks, starting on 4th February where devoted Rugby fans will be waiting eagerly to see who will be etched into the Roll Of Honour this year. The successor to the Home Nations Championship initially comprised England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales between the years 1883–1909 but gained France in 1910 followed by Italy back in 2020. Breitling’s role also extends to the TikTok Women's Six Nations championship, the Autumn Internationals and the 2023 Rugby World Cup warm-up matches.
Gearing up for the start of the tournament on the 4th of February, Breitling has released six new models using the emblems of each national team as a unique design element on each model. The watches are all limited to 150 pieces and are promoted by the seven-strong Breitling Rugby squad comprising some of the world’s top players. These include Wales’ top scorer George North; from Ireland, three-time champion Conor Murray; from England, powerhouse prop Kyle Sinckler; from Italy, star fly-half Paolo Garbisi, who made his test debut in 2020; from France, Gaël Fickou, a 2022 Grand Slam winner; from Scotland, Hamish Watson, the 2021 Player of the Championship; and also from Scotland, Stuart Hogg, twice named the Championship’s top performer.
The new Breitling Chronomat B01 Six Nations Ireland Limited Edition watch
The new Breitling Chronomat B01 Six Nations Ireland Limited Edition watch is designed in the same way as the remaining five models from the series and measures a 42mm size. Crafted from stainless steel and limited to 150 pieces worldwide, the model has been promoted on the wrist of Conor Murray with three Six Nations Championships and a Grand Slam to his name. The Ireland iteration is designed to stand the test of time both on and off the pitch and is crafted from robust stainless steel with a 200-meter water resistance. A piece of anti-reflective and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass secures over the top of the case sealing at the bezel to protect the surface of the rich shamrock-green coloured dial. The hour markers and hands on this watch have all been treated with a generous layer of Super-LumiNova, enabling them to glow richly at night. In addition to this, the hands and hour markers are finished in a tone that matches the silver-filled sub-counters at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock. Two of these dials offer a 30-minute totaliser and a 12-hour totaliser. The 9 o’clock sub-dial is where the Ireland Rugby team’s shamrock emblem can be seen. The three shamrocks with a rugby ball at the centre is a symbol of both Ireland itself and St Patrick and can be seen once again on the back of the case, emblazoned upon the surface of the model’s sapphire crystal glass exhibition feature, alongside the watch’s limited edition number.
Inside the robust and sporty case of the new Breitling Chronomat B01 Six Nations Ireland Limited Edition watch is the in-house manufactured Breitling 01 Calibre. The self-winding movement offers central hours, minutes, small seconds, 1/4th of a second, 30-minute and 12-hour functions, as well as a date feature. It performs at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides a power reserve of 70 hours. The top of the case, sealed with a sapphire glass cover and topped with a bezel is perfect for measuring elapsed time on the pitch or underwater. The unidirectional rotating bezel will turn in the counter-clockwise direction only, eradicating the risk of accidentally extending dive time when exploring deep waters. To finish, the Breitling Chronomat watch secures to the wrist with a comfortable and stylish stainless steel Rouleaux bracelet and a butterfly clasp but can also be configured on a range of other Breitling straps.
Breitling’s CEO Georges Kern extends on the intentions behind the innovative design of the new Breitling Chronomat B01 Six Nations watches; “As Breitling’s all-purpose, no-limits sports watch, the Chronomat Six Nations is the ideal match for the fast and fearless world of rugby,”
