Raymond Weil Releases Freelancer Chronograph 7780 Bronze Limited Edition

Sending hearts racing, the new vintage-inspired Raymond Weil Freelancer Chronograph Bi-Compax 7780 watch, limited to 300 pieces, has a tachymeter and pulsometer feature. Influenced by the open roads, the watch has been released alongside a custom-made motorbike designed by Meister Engineering.

The new Raymond Weil Freelancer Chronograph Bi-Compax 7780 Bronze watch is promoted alongside an eye-catching customised motorbike designed and engineered by a specialist firm. It brings together fans of the watchmaker’s highly collectable Freelancer series and those with a need for speed. Meister Engineering is revered for its ability to reimagine standard motorbikes, customising them to create a distinctive and memorable design. As a result of this newly customised motorbike, Raymond Weil was inspired to produce a limited-edition chronograph watch in bronze tones to harness the vintage feel of the bike, combining style and mechanical virtue in one beautiful collectable timepiece.

The new Raymond Weil Freelancer Chronograph 7780 Bronze watch features the famous brand name across the top of its dial – the same name that is seen in rose gold foil on the fuel tank of the brand’s customised motorbike. This textured gold detailing leads to the technique applied to the surface of the model’s case and its two sub-counters, displayed in a bi-compax layout at 3 and 9 o’clock. A black smoked dial provides the perfect backdrop for these two sub-counters, inspired by the motorbike’s gradient effect paint. The new model is crafted from bronze and measures a 43.5mm diameter, topped with a sapphire crystal glass front for accessing the time at any point of the day or night. Its scratch-resistant and anti-reflective properties not only preserve the beauty of the watch itself but protects the surface of the dial from all manner of damage, including denting, dust, light, moisture and heat.

The new Raymond Weil Freelancer Chronograph 7780 Bi-Compax Bronze watch has two very useful and practical features. Whether you prefer to stand at the side of the race track or enjoy meandering the best of the country’s roads for bikers, you can make use of a pulsometer in bronze colour around the dial’s flange and a tachymeter scale on the surface of the watch’s black ceramic bezel.  These features are replicated on the customised bike’s tank cap. The model’s bi-compax dial layout affords a 9 o’clock scale featuring the small seconds, balanced by a chronograph 30-minute scale with orange-coloured hand and indexes. The bronze-filled scales contrast beautifully against the black smoky dial and are complemented by a Super-LumiNova-coated minute and hour hand, as well as a striking orange-coloured central chronograph second hand. The dial of the new Raymond Weil Freelancer Chronograph 7780 Bronze watch also features a date window at 6 o’clock, dressed against a black background that enables it to melt discreetly into the rest of the display. The applied indexes on the hour track are also set against a snailed background for added texture and depth.

With the chance to measure the speed of a motorbike and your own heart rate, the Raymond Weil Freelancer Chronograph 7780 Bi-Compax Bronze Limited Edition watch is an all-around practical tool, equally matched by its elegant style. A play on shades, depth and texture all come together to create an unusual timepiece from the Freelancer collection. Behind a sapphire crystal glass exhibition back is the Calibre RW5030, equipped with a beautiful W-shaped skeleton oscillating weight in tribute to the company founder’s surname. The movement beats at a rhythm of 28,800 vibrations per hour and delivers an impressive power reserve of 56 hours once fully wound.

Even smaller details of the new Raymond Weil Freelancer Chronograph Bronze Limited Edition watch are devoted to the design of the brand’s customized motorbike. Take, for example, the watch’s rich brown calf leather strap inspired by the leather seats of the bike and its vintage-infused look. The leather band leads on from a set of bronze lugs and features stylish contrast stitching down the edges, along with a bronze folding clasp equipped with a double push-security system.
