Rado Tradition 1965 XL Limited Edition Watch Review

rado-watch-tradition-1965-xl

Take a trip to Manhattan with the Rado Tradition 1965 XL Limited Edition. The distinctive, geometric design takes its cues from the famous rooftops of New York City. The bold rectangular hour and minute markers and angular titanium case resemble the architecture unique to the stunning Manhattan skyline. It’s an iconic silhouette that everyone recognises and dreams of escaping to. First unveiled in 1965, Rado reimagine the sixties classic for a modern audience.

The use of contemporary materials is embedded into the Rado D.N.A. The Tradition 1965 XL is revived for a contemporary market with innovative materials from Rado’s repertoire. The weapon of choice is a PVD coated titanium bringing a lightweight, robustness to the case – in comparison to stainless steel, titanium is 40% lighter on the wrist making such a big impact to the wearer. Peer through the sapphire crystal glass to admire the sophisticated ‘tuning fork’ hour and minute hands, which bring legibility to the vivid blue watch face.

Other features distinguish this design from the original thrusting it boldly into the 21st century. At 9 o’clock sits the red anchor, which denotes an automatic movement – a symbol that moves depending on the orientation of the timepiece. Complete with the supple leather strap, larger case size and cushion shaped case back, the updated edition moves into the 21st century bringing comfort and style to the wearer.

Limited to 1965 pieces, the Rado Tradition 1965 XL is an exclusive piece that deserves a second glance. A statement piece that is nostalgic of the past yet evolves with the future. As Rado eloquently puts “To know where you’re going, you must first know where you’ve been.”

The new Baselworld release is unmissable. With its oversized watch face, use of revolutionary materials, reflection of the past and pioneering spirit, the Tradition 1965 XL is for those who like to be daringly bold. A smaller version is also available for those who favour a more subtle design.
