Rado Introduces NEW Hyperchrome Chronograph in Steel & Rose Gold

Over recent years, Rado has been working hard to position itself appropriately in today’s current market. The brand has enjoyed plenty of success with its large range of sports watches and refined mechanical dress watches imbued with a sleek and refined character. The Rado HyperChrome watch, in particular, plays to the strengths of the brand’s relationship with ceramic, which began around the 1980s.
Rado began revolutionising the watch industry with its material research and development during this time and started producing watches made from zirconium oxide – a material that is often referred to as high-tech ceramic. What made this material so popular in a wristwatch is the fact that it won’t scratch easily. As a result, Rado watches never appear to age - a great selling point for those looking for a long-term solution to timekeeping that will remain modern and in style for a good many years. The colour of a ceramic case is also permanent, preventing it from fading over time.
Ceramic is a material that is also non-magnetic and hypoallergenic. Before now, the Rado HyperChrome watch has been enjoyed in a plethora of shades including grey, yellow gold tone, rose gold tone, white, black and three shades of brown. Adding to this line of colours is the new Rado HyperChrome Chronograph ref. R32259173 in tones of stainless steel and rose gold, paired with a dark grey dial. The colour palette chosen for the new 2023 chronograph watch is rich, luxurious and contemporary, with a black high-tech ceramic bezel completing its sleek and sporty design.
The Rado HyperChrome collection
The HyperChrome range of luxury watches from Rado is a multi-faceted line that offers a variety of colours, shapes and functions. The comprehensive collection of dress watches, dive watches and chronographs is diverse and comprises monobloc case designs made from one single piece of high-tech ceramic, as well as two-tone models that combine stainless steel with ceramic elements. Although the collection is renowned for its modernity, the line also includes retro models such as the Captain Cook and the HyperChrome 1616, as well as diamond-set watches for an added touch of glamour and refinement. One of the most popular designs of this collection is the Chronograph – some of which have been fitted with an automatic movement, others with a quartz. These can be set apart by the layout of their respective dials, with automatic models displaying their chronograph counters at 6 and 9 o’clock, whilst quartz models display their chronograph counters at 2 and 10 o’clock.
The new Rado HyperChrome Chronograph
The Rado HyperChrome Chronograph watch reference R32259173 measures a confident 44.9mm diameter and has been crafted from stainless steel. The case sits at a thickness of 11.7mm and is water-resistant to 100 meters. The brushed effect across the surface of the case creates a contemporary style and marries nicely with the polished crown at 3 o’clock and push pieces at 2 and 4 o’clock. Around the outside of the anthracite dial is a bezel adorned with a tachymeter scale crafted from high-tech ceramic in black. The scale can be used to measure speed based on time and creates a nice frame around the dark grey dial.
On the dial of the new Rado HyperChrome watch for 2023, rose gold-coloured stick markers can be appreciated in the hour track. These match a set of central hour and minute hands that have been treated with Super-LumiNova to match the hour markers. The central chronograph second hand is slim and refined and has been finished in this same rose gold colour. A date window resides at 4:30, dressed against a white background for enhanced legibility. At the 6 o’clock location, a small seconds sub-counter features a concentric circular pattern and balances the 30-minute counter at 2 o’clock and the 12-hour counter at 10 o’clock perfectly. All elements on the dial sit underneath a tough piece of anti-reflective and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass to shield the display.
The new Rado HyperChrome is powered by a quartz movement, which sits inside the core of the case, protected from heat, shock and moisture damage. To complete a contemporary and luxurious finish to this design, the model is fitted on a two-tone bracelet crafted from stainless steel with rose gold PVD-coated links running down the centre. The bi-colour bracelet secures to the underside of the wrist with a folding clasp engraved with the Rado lettering.
