Oris Collaborates With France’s Ligue de Football Professionnel Organisation to Create the Oris x FLP Limited Edition Watch

Take a look at Oris’ new FLP collaboration, as part of its Change For The Better campaign. Its deep blue dial and robust case take on the popular design codes of the Diver’s Sixty-Five model

No matter what the watchmaking vision, Oris likes to craft timepieces with sustainability in mind. It likes to make a difference, hence its Change For The Better campaign, which is still going strong today. The brand created this movement of sustainable change to help solve the problem of worldly issues like plastic waste. Sadly, it highlights some sobering facts. Facts like only 9% of the world’s plastics ever get recycled. It calls for clean-up events in all four corners of the globe, inviting a better future for the world. The events are run by Oris’ team of Sustainability Ambassadors, who work in every country and conduct clean-ups in 10 different European countries alone. It has been fourteen years since Oris began its Change For The Better mission. And while it’s not uncommon for luxury watches to feature recycled materials in their designs, there is something extra special about those made by the Red Rotor brand. Perhaps because the company was one of the first to begin this voyage. Somehow, the brand’s commitment feels so palpable in the designs it creates, including this most recent one – the Oris x LFP Limited Edition watch.

What makes designs like the Oris x FLP watch even more appealing from a collector’s point of view is the fact that these are not a product of a marketing ploy or an attempt to grasp at the spotlight in what is already an actively growing sector of the industry. Moreover, these watches bring emphasis and awareness to worthy causes – causes that prove foundational to its end goal – to be more environmentally focused and make a difference. Over the years there have been many partnerships that have blossomed as a result of these conservation efforts. They come from a genuine desire to make the world a better place.

Oris Ligue de Football Professionnel Organisation

Since that first watch was released to mark the brand’s mission in sustainability in 2010, Oris has worked with several charities, including Australia’s AMCS – a marine protection organisation, as well as the Coral Restoration Foundation. This time, the watchmaker is teaming up with Ligue de Football Professionnel who has been a sustainability partner to Oris since 2022. Oris also keeps time for the football organisation and, as a result of the new timepiece, Oris will help support the football club’s charity – CNAPE.

Setting Goals

Oris is deepening its relationship with France’s Ligue de Football Professionnel Organisation (LFP)for which it fulfils the role of Official Timekeeper. As such, the watchmaker times games across two top leagues in France, but this relationship runs much deeper than running pitch-side clocks. The organisation helps support an important children’s charity, which Oris also aims to support by releasing the new Oris x LFP Limited Edition watch. Both are members of the UN’s Football for the Goals programme, which adheres to its own set of Sustainable Development Goals too. The new release symbolises a linking of Oris’ sustainability programmes with the LFP’s charity partner CNAPE. The timepiece is a collaboration that highlights a special annual football tournament, which gives children an unforgettable experience while raising funds for the children’s charity. This powerful collaboration is expected to have a big impact on the sporting community as well as keen Oris enthusiasts, who have been anticipating the brand’s next release.

The New Oris x FLP Limited Edition Watch

The CNAPE (National Convention of Child Protection Association) unites several children’s charities across France and is the inspiration for the new Oris x FLP Limited Edition. It takes the form of the Swiss watchmaker’s retro Diver’s Sixty-Five collection but boasts several unique features that top their hat to the CNAPE. In doing so, the watch adopts a script typeface that captures the innocence of a child’s handwriting. This same script replaces the lettering of the Oris logo, as well as the other inscriptions seen on the dial, giving the timepiece a completely new makeover. The lettering applies to the “Swiss Made” details and the “water resistance” lettering. One of the most attractive features of the watch is the rainbow lettering of this water-resistant reference – a design element that is chosen to highlight the logo used for CNAPE’s children’s football tournament.

There are some really appealing sporty influences running through this new Oris design. The blue dial itself represents the UN’s 17th Sustainable Development Goal, while the back of the case is decorated with an engraved message denoting the “Les Defenseurs de l’Enfance” logo.

The new Oris x FLP Limited Edition watch is a stainless steel model that measures a diameter of 38mm on the wrist. This is a multi-piece steel construction – the same one that Oris adopts for all its watches, including those of the Diver’s Sixty-Five watch collection. The model has a unidirectional rotating bezel with a minute scale in relief and a screw-down crown adorned with the Oris logo, which helps the case uphold its 100-meter water resistance. Onto the dial itself and the hands and hour markers of this timepiece have all been treated with a generous layer of Super-LumiNova, which glows richly in the dark. Sending these luminous hands around the dark blue dial is the Oris Calibre 733. The automatic movement, based on a Sellita engine provides a power reserve of 41 hours and boasts 28,800 vibrations per hour. The movement also supplies a date window at 6 o’clock, enabling you to keep on top of the passing days of the month.

This new Oris x FLP Limited Edition watch is limited to just 1000 pieces and is set to be a popular collectable for 2024. The watch is fitted on a multi-piece stainless steel bracelet that secures to the underside of the wrist with a folding clasp, imparting a dressy feel when paired with elegant attire. Oris continues its Change For the Better campaign by making a difference in supporting this important children’s charity and organising a watch raffle in aid of raising funds for CNAPE. It’s great to see Oris venturing into different territories with its mission, and what comes in the future is sure to be just as exciting.
