Wednesday - 07 February 2018
In honour of the incredible service that Rega provide worldwide, Oris have launched a second limited edition named after the Swiss air-rescue. Their new companion boasts a second time zone as a reference to the missions that take the Rega jet pilots across the globe; a function selected by the courageous aviators themselves who work around the clock to provide medical assistance by air. Meet the Oris Big Crown ProPilot GMT Rega Limited Edition.
The second addition to the collection takes a more scaled back approach making the dial easy to read and use during every call of distress. The oversized crisp white Arabic numerals truly stand out against the black dial complimenting the striking minute and hour hands, rectangular indices and second time zone numerals. Adding to the legibility of the dial the large numerals and hands are coated with Superluminova – a feature that allows the rescue pilots to read the time at night as their service can be required at any time of the day.
The monochrome dial welcomes a hint of red with the triangular tip of the GMT central hand and the Rega logo sitting at 3 o’clock. The cross symbol refers to their professional medical assistance and is also engraved onto the back of the stainless steel grey PVD plated case. Fasten the Oris Watch Big Crown ProPilot GMT Rega Limited Edition with a matching grey textile strap that features a striking red lining complimenting the accents on the dial.
Ready for the unknown of a rescue mission, the Oris 748 automatic movement that is based on the SW 220-1 features a power reserve of 38 hours leaving enough time to complete the operation successfully.
Taking into consideration the requirements of the air ambulance, the limited edition of 2000 pieces is both functional and practical. Saving lives worldwide, the GMT function is the perfect addition to the collection as is the highly legible dial design.
