Ever since the launch of the 2000-series, TAG Heuer has been piquing the interests of avid dive watch collectors with its bold and robust diving tools for professionals and amateurs. The collection was later rebranded the Aquaracer and since then, the Swiss watch manufacturer has never looked back. Neither has its dedicated fans. Last year we saw TAG Heuer revamp the beloved Aquaracer with some new and improved features. Now it’s time for the famous dive watch to cross borders between a tool for underwater use and travel-friendly components. Meet the new TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT.
The sporty dive watch for travel
Bringing together an innovative GMT function and a diving instrument and housing it inside a classic-looking sports watch can only mean one thing – a perfect companion for the summer. New for 2022 is TAG Heuer’s Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT watch – it can do anything whilst worn anywhere at any time. Based on the specifications of the trusty Aquaracer 300M, the new TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT is creating quite a stir amongst enthusiasts. The 300-meter water-resistant luxury dive watch is crafted from stainless steel and imbued with a captivating ocean-inspired blue dial with the iconic striped pattern running from one edge of the dial to the other. Much like its three-handed counterparts from the same collection, which we have previously reviewed here, the new addition to the series is both athletic and bold. Its short, angular lugs and chamfered case sides, not to mention directional brushing applied to its case and striking octagonal-shaped bezel, make it a timepiece that can certainly be picked out from a crowded room.
The white and deep blue colour palette of this new watch’s dial enhances readability whilst retaining a sporty diver-inspired aesthetic. A glossy blue ceramic-filled bezel frames the display where a set of chunky hour and minute hands, executed in the unique Professional 300 style, make for incredibly easy timekeeping. To leverage readability further, these features have been coated with a layer of Super-LumiNova, enabling them to glow richly at night or when referencing time in deep dark underwater depths. The hour markers, represented in a mix of octagonal and trapezoid-style profiles have also been treated with this same luminous material. Accompanying the sword-shaped hands of the new watch is a yellow-coated central second hand, tipped with a trapezoid-shaped motif. Joining this is an arrow-shaped hand to depict the GMT function. At 6 o’clock, the white date can be found and the entire dial is protected by a strong piece of scratch-resistant and anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass.
If you flip the case of the new TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT over, you can see the classic dive helmet motif engraved into a solid steel caseback against the archetypal honeycomb surface pattern. Combing with 300-meter water resistance is a screw-down crown engraved with the TAG Heuer logo, whilst the case itself houses the Calibre 7 automatic GMT movement inside its 43mm dimensions. Based on the ETA 2892-A2, the automatic movement is capable of producing a 50-hour power reserve.
In terms of strap options, you can choose to wear the new TAG Heuer GMT watch on a classic three-link oyster-style bracelet or a sportier textured rubber band with a deployment clasp engraved with the TAG Heuer logo.
