The new Super Sea Wolf Compression Meteorite Limited Edition watch by Zodiac is exclusive to just 182 pieces worldwide and boasts a stealthy dark grey DLC-coated stainless steel case and bracelet, along with shots of rich blue in and around its captivating meteorite dial.
If you’ve been following Zodiac over recent years, you will be more than familiar with its slew of bold and dynamic dive watches from the Super Sea Wolf watch collection. In particular, the company teamed up with Watches.com to release a model with a meteorite dial. The meteorite was the 800,000-year-old Muonionalusta kind extracted from Sweden, adding a dimensional allure to the watch with its organic cross-hatching pattern. Orange highlights on the hand, the bezel and the chapter ring gave a nice warmth to the model. It also boasted all the key features of the well-loved Super Sea Wolf watch. These included its colour-matched bezel topped with a rounded mineral crystal and a painted bottom layer to achieve a similar appearance to the vintage Bakelite bezels found in dive watches of a time long gone. Its black DLC-coated stainless steel case measured a compact 40mm diameter for a comfortable fit on the average-sized wrist.
Along a similar line was the Z09292 model, which joined a long line of rugged dive tools in various dial colours including watermelon, candy and aquamarine. The grey meteorite model followed closely in the footsteps of the grey and orange model and was yet another collaborative effort between Zodiac and Watches.com. Its stainless steel case showcased an unusual grey patina that is normally only ever seen as a grey ceramic, a bare titanium or a Hyperchrome plasma. The grey DLC-coated steel case of the model, however, was a nanocomposite coating that promise improved hardness and high corrosion resistance. The entire surface area featured this intriguing finish, framing the same meteorite material across its dial surface. Now it’s time to introduce yet another chapter to the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Meteorite story. Like all Super Sea Wolf watches from Zodiac, a simple time and date dial delivers legibility against a contrasting background. The brand has sourced the same meteorite material to create the display and captured its textures and natural patterns with a bold blue ring circling the periphery of the dial. This captivating blue colour is punchy and attention-demanding. It matches the colour of the central minute hand, whilst the hour hand is executed in a black trim to match the rectangular hour markers around the hour track. As promised by Zodiac – the elements on the dial are all highly visible in dark conditions, constituting a legible dial for utilisation underwater as well as during the night. The Super-LumiNova coated hands and hour markers glow richly to ensure you have access to the time in all kinds of conditions.
The stainless steel case of the new Super Sea Wolf Compression Limited Edition Meteorite watch is coated in the same darkened grey colour as the last iteration, giving it a stealthy yet masculine aesthetic. On top of this is a fitted unidirectional rotating bezel with a grey colour that matches the dial and a contrasting 60-minute dive scale in white. The bezel is both easy to read and to handle thanks to its toothed design that can be easily gripped when wearing diving gloves. The dial inside this ceramic bezel also features a central second hand with a rectangular luminous pip that matches the hour markers. All features on the dial are also protected by a piece of anti-reflective and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass, which protects the dial from any unwanted damage.
Inside the new Super Sea Wolf Compression Meteorite Limited Edition watch by Zodiac is an STP automatic movement that produces a useful 44-hour power reserve during times when the watch is away from the wrist. It sits protected inside a 200-meter water-resistant case that attaches to a matching grey DLC-coated stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp and the Zodiac logo engraved into its surface.
