Meet the new Maurice Lacroix Pontos S Chronograph Collection

The Maurice Lacroix Pontos S Chronograph watch was a revamped released as part of a trilogy to mark twenty successful years of the popular Pontos watch in 2020 and was launched in conjunction with the Maurice Lacroix Monopusher Chronograph with a bi-compax dial layout. This year, the sport-oriented timepiece has received a new makeover with a choice in strap design and celebrates all the much-loved features of the popular Pontos, housed inside a 43mm steel case. The former grey and white dials have been replaced with a deep blue or silvery-white option and now come clad in a stylish black-filled ceramic external bezel.

Two dial colours and two strap options over four variants make for plenty of choices in this new release of the Pontos S Chronograph watch by Maurice Lacroix. The new launch offers all the distinct features of the line, including the twin pusher movement accessed via the buttons flanking the side of a fluted Maurice Lacroix stamped crown. They hug the contours of the case to give a more streamlined and resolutely sportier feel. The typical tri-compax dial layout of these new blue and silvery-white variants is enhanced by a sandblasted finish on the display, whilst the sub-counters themselves are executed with a snailed pattern.

In the silver dial option of the new Maurice Lacroix Pontos S Chronograph, the two chronograph sub-dials are highlighted in a contrasting dark grey colour to stand out against the small seconds sub-scale, whilst the alternative option in blue features an all-blue background for each sub-counter to effortlessly melt into the background. The 30-minute chronograph counter at 12 o’clock and 12-hour totaliser at 6 o’clock are balanced by a day and date complication at 3 o’clock. These features are set against a white background in both models, surrounded by faceted markers to create the hour ring around the edge of the dial. These rectangles are coated in lume to assist with timekeeping at night. The hands are also coated in luminous material and are sword-shaped, whilst the central chronograph second hand has been tipped in a red colour for accurate time measurements. The entire dial is framed by a black ceramic bezel featuring a tachymeter scale for measuring speed based on distance.

Inside the heart of the new Maurice Lacroix Pontos S Chronograph is the Calibre ML112, which is based on the composition of an automatic Sellita movement. It offers a power reserve of 42 hours and beats to the rhythm of 28,800 vibrations per hour. In addition to this, it offers hours, minutes, seconds, central chronograph seconds, a 12-hour chronograph feature and a 30-minute count-up, as well as a date and day function. The movement also boasts Cotes de Geneve finishes, circular graining and rhodium-plated elements that can be admired through the back of the case via a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass exhibition feature. The front of the case is also executed in the same material. The sapphire crystal glass top secured to the front of the watch has been treated with anti-reflective technology and assists the case in upholding a 100-meter water resistance.

Both models are available in a choice of a robust yet sophisticated-looking stainless steel bracelet that secures with a folding clasp engraved with the famous Maurice Lacroix logo. This is a perfect accompaniment for pairing with elegant attire in the evening or a professional suit for the office. The alternative option is a stylish nylon textured strap in dark grey, adorned with the Maurice Lacroix emblem in polished stainless steel fixed to the long end of the strap.
