Meet the new Gucci 25H Watches for Summer 2022

If you weren’t already aware, Gucci is celebrating its 50th year of watchmaking this year, which calls for something extra special from the Italian manufacturer. To mark this celebration, the company has released a range of functional yet fashionable watches for every occasion belonging to the Gucci 25H collection. Under the guidance of Alessandro Michelle, Gucci has been able to continue forward with a slew of innovations, breaking boundaries in the realm of designer watches and has subsequently slipped from a fashion watch genre to sit within a level of higher watchmaking. This, for many brands, is not an easy thing to do but by elevating its approach to luxury watchmaking and creating its own automatic movements, Gucci can now proudly say it takes watchmaking as seriously as the next brand. To add to this – Gucci has even produced a tourbillon and flying tourbillon in collaboration with Kering.
Gucci has always been renowned for its approach to quality craftsmanship and the Gucci 25H watch collection is a perfect example of how the brand has journeyed from strength to strength since establishing its first timepiece back in 1972. As some of the most in-demand luxury products on the market these days, Gucci watches are the go-to fashion accessory for the modern man or woman. Many people assume that Gucci watches like those from the Gucci 25H collection are produced in Italy, yet the company’s location of manufacture for its timepieces is La Chaux de Fonds in Switzerland. Produced by Gucci Group, the dials, straps, movements and cases are produced here. Although founded much earlier than the first Gucci watch, 1972 marks the beginning of the brand’s quest in creating luxury wristwatches.
The new Gucci 25H watch collection brings about some real vibrant colours for Summer 2022. Described as a line of timepieces defined by clean lines and contrasting finishes, the collection will appeal to experienced and new Gucci watch collectors. Gucci explains a little more: “A milestone in Gucci’s Swiss watchmaking history, some automatic styles are fitted with the first in-house GG727.25 calibre, encased in an ultra-thin 7.2mm case with sleek bezel and contemporary architectural details. The iridescent selection includes different colour variations. A glass dial defines the silhouette, changing hue when exposed to light, while the Interlocking G motif appears as a subtle nod to the House’s founder. Classic steel bracelets with streamlined silhouettes appear as part of the new timepieces collection. Variations include 18k gold-plated dials and sparkling diamonds, resulting in integrated designs with elevated finishes.”
The Gucci 25H watch collection has been around for a little over a year now and has been characterised by its ultra-thin sports watch - just one of many stylish models belonging to the range. Last year’s range also offered models in platinum and yellow gold as well as options powered by quartz or automatic movements. Other options included stainless steel with a gold plating and silver or gold dial variations.
Two new models from the Gucci 25H watch collection include a vibrant Barbie pink colour and a striking aqua blue colour. We can also see the return of the horizontal striped pattern on the dials of these models, as well as the iconic Interlocking G motif, adorned to the surface of the displays. The watches, with their streamlined silhouettes, are crafted from stainless steel and measure diameters of 38mm on the wrist. Powered by a quartz movement, the models present a multi-layered case housing a white dial with a coloured glass surface in pink, blue, silver and golden hues. Two diamond-set watches are also available in a stainless steel option or a stainless steel and yellow gold bi-colour option. These models boast scintillating diamonds around the edge of the bezel and are also powered by quartz movements, measuring the same 38mm diameter. Applied indexes present the hour markers around the outer section of each dial, whilst the central hour and minute hands are skeletonised. The models forgo a date function, lending themselves to a very clean and simple look.
