Just Landed: The Bell & Ross BR V2-92 Orange

It used to go by the name “Vintage” – these days it is known as the BR V2. It’s a rounded pilot’s watch that isn’t always the first to spring to mind when we think of Bell & Ross watches, especially since the brand has heavily focussed on the popular square timepieces from the BR 03 range and the sporty BR 05 watch range with integrated bracelets over the last few years. But the new Bell & Ross BR V2-92 Orange watch gives us plenty of excuses to turn our attention to this section of the company’s portfolio.

The BR V2 watch is a well-rounded sports watch that is often imbued with classic pilot’s watch elements. This time, however, the manufacturer deviates a little from these design codes to create a timepiece that looks a little different from its earlier Steel Heritage, Military Green and Military Beige editions. The BR V2-92 Orange watch plays with colour in a very daring way. It features a stainless steel case that has been executed with a mix of brushed and polished finishes and measures a diameter of 41mm. Indeed, there are many reasons why this watch is going to attract a lot of attention on the wrist. If not for its vivid orange dial alone, for its undisputedly retro vibe, which the BR V2 watch collection has been known to sport in the past.

The new Bell & Ross BR V2-92 Orange is a do-it-all sports watch…

Yes, the new Bell & Ross BR V2-92 Orange is a do-it-all sports watch that doesn’t limit its features to any one individual, any one walk of life, or any one task. That’s a great thing for a modern watch today. There is so much hype around collecting one particular genre of watch, be that a chronograph, a pilot’s watch, a diver’s watch or a GMT watch. This all-round sports watch can do many other things apart from measuring elapsed time via its sleek and crisp bezel. The Bell & Ross watch ref. BRV292-O-ST/SRB is fitted on a black rubber strap that gives the timepiece a casual, urban style. The Bell & Ross watch ref. BRV292-O-ST/SST is fitted on a stainless steel bracelet that elevates the model, enabling it to pair with something a little smarter or more formal by night.

The retro-inspired elements of this new Bell & Ross BR V2-92 Orange watch allow it to comfortably slot right into the “Vintage” collection with ease. Defined entirely by its vivid display, experts at the company’s manufacturing facilities have placed legibility right at the forefront of this design – another reason why it makes for such a great sports watch and, undeniably, a daily beater. It’s certainly a bold choice for the summer months and no doubt, it will look the part on the beach during a vacation. Its inspiration is 1970s pop culture – we didn’t see that one coming. What makes the rubber strap version a little more interesting, however, is the braided effect upon the surface of the band. Both the rubber band option securing with a pin buckle and the stainless steel bracelet option are limited to 250 pieces each worldwide and if you fancy one for your own collection, you’re probably going to have to move quickly. The vibrant orange dial on the Bell & Ross BR V2 watch is a really good look. It won’t take long for 500 Bell & Ross fans to line up for this sporty, retro, rounded number.

The new Bell & Ross BR V2-92 Orange watch is relatively thin, measuring a height of just 11.50mm. Adding to its vintage-inspired feel is the model’s prominently domed anti-reflective and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass front. The watch also features an integrated crown guard module as well as a screw-down crown to enable the watch to uphold its 100-meter water resistance. Inside the new Bell & Ross BR V2-92 Orange watch is the automatic BR-CAL.302. The self-winding engine has been well-used through the company’s catalogue and is based on the Sellita SW 300-1. It offers a power reserve of 42 hours and beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour, with a decorated snail pattern adorned on its bridges and rotor.

The rotating bezel of the new Bell & Ross BR V2-92 Orange watch is crafted from black anodised aluminium. It rotates bi-directionally and enables elapsed time to be measured by aligning it with the minute hand. These pilot-like hands are treated with Super-LumiNova, as are the white large Arabic numerals and pill-shaped markers. A date aperture resides in the familiar 4:30 position, completed in the same zesty orange colour of the dial.
