Introducing the Sinn U50 DS Limited Edition Watch

The new Sinn U50 DS Limited Edition watch is the latest dive watch from Sinn to enter its popular U50 collection. It comes with guaranteed dive-ready features that are incredibly practical for underwater use, such as a 500-meter water resistance and a Captive Safety diver’s bezel, but its most eye-catching feature of all is a stunning dial achieved by a decorative grinding effect that plays with the light in a very special way.

How does a Sinn U50 watch fare upon the wrist whilst diving? Pretty damn good actually, and with each new release Sinn adds more and more of its advanced technological features to offer its fan base a versatile offering of rugged, water-ready tool watches for every occasion.

A little about the Sinn U50

Historically, the Sinn U50 watch has always shared the same anatomy. This includes a case and bezel crafted from German submarine stainless steel. Stronger and more scratch resistant than standard stainless steel, submarine stainless steel is perfect for Sinn’s hardy dive watches and provides an exceptional level of durability. Submarine steel gives Sinn watches a slightly darker, greyish metallic shade that is less lustrous than standard steel, adding to the solid and engineered character of the exceptional U50 dive watch.

The case of a Sinn U50 watch is topped with a solid unidirectional rotating bezel with black and red indicators to mark out a clear 60-minute dive scale. The other side of the case is screwed down, revealing plenty of space for the engraved model and the serial number of the watch. Sinn U50 watches also have a screwed-down crown at 4 o’clock. This unusual location prevents the crown from digging into the back of the hand and is designed with a grooved surface that can be manipulated easily under diving gear and gloves.  It also assists with the U50’s incredible water-resistant capability of 500 meters. Having a screwed-in caseback and crown also assists with keeping a dry environment for an automatic movement to perform inside.

The new Sinn U50 DS watch

The new Sinn U50 DS watch to join the U50 watch collection is a limited edition model of just 1000 pieces worldwide. Its eye-catching dial achieved via a decorative grinding effect is amongst some of its most appealing features, along with additional attributes like the brand’s TEGIMENT Technology for enhancing the hardness of the case and a Captive Safety bezel. The watch is crafted once again from German submarine stainless steel and measures a diameter of 41mm. The bezel can be aligned with the minute hand to effectively track elapsed time whilst underwater and will only rotate in the counterclockwise direction to ensure that dive time can never be accidentally extended whilst underwater. Its special design differs from a standard diving bezel in the fact that it cannot be detached from the case itself or accidentally knocked to lose time altogether.

As with all Sinn U50 watches, the new Sinn U50 DS watch is tested against European diving equipment standards and certified by DNV. Its crown at 4 o’clock is designed to reduce the risk of snagging or digging into the back of the hand when worn and creates an overall improved wearer experience.

Whether you take to the water frequently or just love the style and robust hardwearing nature of the U50 watch, one of these 1000 Sinn U50 DS watches is sure to make a great addition to your growing collection.
