Introducing the Sinn Model T50 Goldbronze and Model T50 GBDR

The new Sinn Model T50 Goldbronze watch, limited to 300 pieces worldwide and non-limited Model T50 GBDR watch both feature a patent-pending bronze alloy manufactured in-house at Sinn – a composition that includes 1/8th of gold. The two watches make use of this saltwater-resistant material. Blending it with titanium in a unique way to create an innovative 500-meter water-resistant dive watch with a special Captive Safety bezel for efficiently measuring elapsed time whilst underwater.

If saltwater resistance is an important feature in a dive watch for you, you’re going to want to get involved in the new Sinn Model T50 Goldbronze and Model T50 GBDR watches. Both rugged and robust tool watches feature a new innovative material that continues Sinn’s expertise in metallurgy with a patent-pending alloy called Goldbronze. This material not only offers a superior purity compared to other bronze alloys on the market, but it also promises improved skin compatibility. The Goldbronze material is 1/8th gold and guarantees an exceptional level of saltwater resistance, making it a great companion for your wrist if you love a spot of deep-sea diving or if you’re a keen sailor. That said, you don’t need to be either of these if you just love the look of the Sinn Model T50 Goldbronze watches. Both offer everything needed in terms of reliability and robustness for everyday wear. One model (Goldbronze Limited Edition of 300 pieces) features a full case and bezel crafted from this material with a titanium caseback, whilst the other (non-limited GBDR watch) features a bead-blasted titanium case with a Goldbronze Captive Diver’s Bezel. Let’s get to know the new Sinn Model T50 Goldbronze and GBDR watches in a little more detail…

Sinn’s dive watches

Sinn already has an established range of watches for divers. The U1 and U50 watches remain some of the German watch brand’s most robust dive tools, whilst the U50 has been the brand’s latest flagship dive watch to join the company’s catalogue in 2020. Now it is joined by a more lightweight and high-strength sibling named the Sinn T50. These two watches showcasing Sinn’s latest material are not the only ones belonging to the T50 collection. I covered another titanium model equipped with the same dive watch features in this article here. But if new materials appeal to you, the new Sinn T50 watches with Goldbronze elements are sure to tickle your fancy. These three dive watches all have one thing in common – titanium. The clue is in its name. Since the U1 and U50 referenced the U-Boot-Stahl with their letter “U”, the letter “T” in these new watches simply refers to titanium, whilst the “50” relates to 50ATM or 500-meter water resistance.

Although the new Model T50 Goldbronze watch (limited to 300 pieces) and the GBDR watch (non-limited) feature similar characteristics like a set of short lugs, for example, they also showcase a new scalloped bezel and a luminous triangular plot at 12 o’clock to align with the blue luminous minute hand on the dial when wanting to measure elapsed minutes underwater. This diving bezel works in a different way than conventional snap-in mechanisms and is most notably seen in the brand’s T1, T2 and U1000 series. Not only do the new Sinn T50 bronze watches prevent the rotating bezel from accidentally becoming knocked (therefore increasing elapsed time underwater), but the special design prevents the bezels from detaching from their cases altogether. The method to remember when manipulating the anti-twist mechanism of these bezels is to press first then turn it. In the GBDR model, the bezel crafted from Goldbronze sits on top of a 500-meter water-resistant titanium case, whilst the T50 Goldbronze Limited Edition watch features a matching Goldbronze case and bezel.

Another difference that can be instantly appreciated between the two Goldbronze watches is that the GBDR model features a sleek black dial that strips timekeeping right to the basics with a blue emission Super-LumiNova minute hand and a green emission Super-LumiNova-coated hand for the hours. Both watches feature a date window at 3 o’clock, yet the Goldbronze Limited Edition watch has a dial executed with an irregular intricate pattern. The different layers and textures of the dial provide levels from which different nuances of light are created. This striking play of light and shades adds another platform to enjoy timekeeping upon. Because of this dial finishing, each Model T50 Goldbronze watch is unique. Add to this the unique patina acquired by the bronze case over time and you have yourself a one-off timepiece that keeps on transitioning whilst it is worn. As the watch ages on the wrist, this special alloy darkens much slower than a standard bronze case, yet should you wish to reverse some of this darkening, it can be done with a special cloth supplied by Sinn with the purchase of this watch.

Large striking sword-shaped hands are propelled around the dial of each of these new Sinn T50 bronze watches thanks to the Sellita SW300-1. This highly capable automatic movement comprises 25 jewels and produces a 42-hour power reserve once fully wound. It also performs at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour and features basic seconds, hours, minutes and a date function.

Both the Sinn Model T50 Goldbronze watch and the Sinn Model T50 GBDR watch feature a screw-down crown at 4 o’clock to avoid any undesirable digging in of the watch to the back of the hand. Both models are also equipped with a pane of anti-reflective and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass on the front of the case that protects the dial from scratching, denting, moisture, heat and light damage. Whilst the limited edition Model T50 Gold bronze watch comes fitted on an olive green textile strap and a Goldbronze buckle, the GBDR watch is completed on the same silicone grey strap seen on the Model T50 Titanium watch that I covered in more detail here.
