Hands-on with the new Rado Centrix Automatic Diamonds Watches

The new lady’s and men’s Centrix Automatic Diamonds watches from Rado combine a luxurious rose gold PVD-coated stainless steel case with indulgent brown high-tech ceramic bracelet links that perfectly compliment a stamped brown dial adorned with scintillating diamonds

Rado has an unwavering passion for research and development and this dedication has brought the luxury watch industry several firsts, including the production of an exceptional material known as plasma high-tech ceramic. Durable and with an exceptionally smooth surface, Rado’s groundbreaking ceramic watches look good but are also designed to last a long time on the wrist. The brand’s innovative high-tech ceramic is also hypoallergenic and creates a sense of weightlessness against the skin with its unmistakable lightness. Creating a material such as this for the luxury watch industry, however, is no mean feat. It takes years of skill, know-how and patience. Rado’s incredibly modern timepieces are a perfect match for this cutting-edge material, complimenting it perfectly in several different watch designs, including the sleek and sophisticated Centrix watch collection. In creating this material, a precise tactile quality also needs to be achieved, as does a certain shade of colour. These are techniques that are also incredibly intricate but leave no room for error.

How Rado achieves its high-tech ceramic designs

Without a doubt, Rado’s high-tech ceramic feels like nothing else. It has been used in the brand’s monobloc cases and high-tech ceramic bracelets for several years. The material also goes through several transformative treatments, from an organic powder to a complex product with many tactile properties. Lighter than steel but much more scratch-resistant, high-tech ceramic can take around two weeks to complete its manufacturing processes, no matter how large or small the component. The zirconium oxide powder is mixed with several coloured pigments, along with a polymer binding agent. This special mix is called feedstock and is melted down before being injected into a high-precision mould.

The de-binding process then takes place, where the polymer binding agent is removed, preparing the ceramic parts for sintering. They are then placed in a 1450-degree oven for a full week where all calculations have already been made to ensure the shrinking stage takes the parts down to the exact correct size. To give you an idea of the level of precision involved in this process, even the screw threads are calculated. The parts are then placed in a vat with ceramic kernels, which polishes the surface of the components. The process itself can last up to a week before being used in part or in whole for the design of a watch like the Rado Centrix Automatic Diamonds model.

The new Rado Centrix Automatic Diamonds watch

The new Centrix Automatic Diamonds watch by Rado is a release that will appeal to anyone looking for a contemporary yet luxurious dress watch. It belongs to a collection that is known for its array of different sizes, colours and movement options. Such a choice ensures there is a style and a design to suit all tastes. The Rado Centrix also has a very distinct tapered bracelet that is also lightweight. Designed to embrace the wrist, it promises outstanding comfort against the skin, donating an all-around touch of elegance to any attire.

The new Rado Centrix Automatic Diamonds watch boasts a new and reworked design, both aesthetically and technically. It has a rounded sapphire crystal glass front that extends all the way to the edge of the curved case crafted from stainless steel, as well as its adjusted case lugs that feature a mix of polished rose gold PVD-coated stainless steel links and brown high-tech ceramic middle links.

The perfectly round silhouette of the new Rado Centrix Automatic Diamonds watch measures a diameter of 30mm for women and a diameter of 39.5mm for men, constituting the most beautiful watch to pair with elegant evening attire or a professional suit in the daytime. The brown and golden tones of this watch are incredibly unusual, yet this watch is unmistakably Rado through and through. The stainless steel case has received a full rose gold PVD coating, including the lugs and the crown at 3 o’clock.

Inside the slim and polished rose gold-coloured bezel of this Rado Centrix watch for men and women is a brown faceted dial with an opulent 3D effect that has been achieved by stamping the shaped dial before filling it with lacquer. Upon the decorated dial is a slender set of central hour and minute hands that taper to a fine point, as well as a needle-fine seconds hand. A date is positioned at the 6 o’clock location, framed in a chunky rose gold trim below the “Jubile” lettering. Dotted around the hour track are 12 scintillating diamonds that catch the light majestically, creating a captivating display to read the time off, especially when combined with the patterned dial effect.

The new Rado Centrix Automatic Diamonds watch is equipped with the automatic R582 movement, which produces a power reserve of 48 hours whilst secured inside a 50-meter water-resistant case. The final finishing touch to this beautiful Rado Centrix watch is the addition of its luxurious bracelet crafted from rose gold PVD-coated stainless steel with stunning brown high-tech ceramic middle links that run through the entire design with a polished effect. The perfectly matched colour of the high-tech ceramic links compliments the brown nuances of the stamped and faceted dial. The complex machining of this Rado two-tone bracelet is yet another example of the brand’s unfaltering approach to cutting-edge watchmaking with groundbreaking materials that keep on giving in their many forms throughout the brand’s catalogue.
