Graham Chronofighter Vintage 25th Anniversary Limited Edition Review

In celebration of their 25th anniversary, Graham have recreated the first iconic Chronofighter model with the Graham Chronofighter Vintage 25th Anniversary Limited Edition. Inspired by WWII bomb-timer instruments, the almighty chronograph is unmissable on the wrist thanks to its statement lever on the left side of the case. This careful placement tributes the watches worn by flying officers who required easy access to the crown and pushers for making time measurements while in flight.

Named after illustrious English clockmaker Georges Graham, Graham watches continue to honour the inventor’s remarkable past and the long list of feats he achieved during his career. Alongside the dead-beat escapement, the mercury clock and the cylinder escapement, he invented the historically valuable observatory timer in 1725 which could measure intervals of 1/16th of a second. It was this accomplishment that led Graham to be known as the father of the chronograph. Then in 1995, the Graham name was resurrected by engineer student Eric Loth and for the past 25 years, Graham watches have remained synonymous with fine watchmaking manufacture, Swiss mechanical movements and of course, chronograph complications.

The Graham Chronofighter has remained the brand’s most successful and best-selling model since its release in the early 2000s. For the occasion of its 25th birthday, they have launched the Graham Chronofighter Vintage 25th Anniversary Limited Edition to honour its original 2001 predecessor. The faithful reproduction looks fantastic on the wrist, a complete conversation starter like all Graham Chronofighter watches. It comes presented with a matching matte black dial and a bi-compax layout with stunning snailed registers. The large Arabic numerals, indexes and central hands for hours and minutes are decorated with green Superluminova for a vintage-inspired finish and for additional legibility in low lighting.

The main difference between the Graham Chronofighter Vintage 25th Anniversary Limited Edition and it’s 25-year-old counterpart is its case size. The stainless steel case of the new model measures to 44mm, which is 1mm bigger than the original, something that was still considered a pretty hefty size back then. The modern reiteration also features a stunning exhibition case back which reveals components of the Swiss made G1722 mechanical automatic chronograph calibre. As well as boasting an impressive power reserve of 48 hours and being chronometer certified, the movement provides central hands for hours and minutes, small seconds at 3 o’clock, a red tipped central chronograph seconds hand and a 30 minute counter.

The back of the Graham Chronofighter Vintage 25th Anniversary Limited Edition also reveals the rare limited edition number out of 25 pieces and a special 25th anniversary logo. The sleek steel lugs of the case then make way to a luxurious hand-sewn brown calfskin leather strap and an elegant stainless steel pin buckle to match. To complete its vintage inspired aesthetic, the Graham limited edition is fitted with domed sapphire crystal treated with anti-reflective treatment and of course the statement fast action start and stop trigger and reset pusher on the left hand side of the case.

With only 25 pieces of the Graham Chronofighter Vintage 25th Anniversary Limited Edition being released; this rare piece will be perfect for collector’s and avid vintage watch enthusiasts alike.
