Graham 2020 Watch a Week Releases
Tuesday - 24 November 2020
10 weeks, 10 watches. That was Graham’s goal earlier this year, to release at least one watch every week over the spring and summer. Today, we want to take a look at all these remarkable new releases in more detail including the ferocious Animal collection, the iconic “I Shot The Sherriff” Limited Edition tribute to Bob Marley’s song and the extraordinary Chronofighter Superlight Carbon Skeleton which shook the industry for its translucent matrix case.
The Graham watch brand are known for having a great sense of humour, and before we start counting down the Graham Watch a Week releases, it’s worth noting that we are aware there are more than ten releases in total! It seems, in typical Graham style, they sought to surprise with several extras that they knew we’d love. So, let’s get started on this multifaceted journey and take a look at some of Graham’s most remarkable watch releases of 2020…
Graham Chronofighter Vintage Animal Watch Collection
A trio of 100 piece limited editions, the Graham Chronofighter Vintage Animal watch collection features three magnificent beasts across the dials including a growling bear, a mother tiger and her turbulent cub and a short-tempered dragon whose tail almost entirely consumes the dial. Powered by the Calibre G1745 automatic winding movement and presented in 44mm stainless steel cases, these watches showcase the playful creativity of the Graham designers as the animals can be seen holding or ‘knocking over’ the Arabic numerals around the circumference.
Graham Chronofighter Vintage Emergency Gold Limited Edition
A unique watch if there ever was one, the Graham Chronofighter Vintage Emergency Gold Limited Edition features 1 gram of genuine Swiss gold ingot on the dial. Decorated in a black sun-brushed finish and golden openwork hands and indexes, the dial is protected by one of the industry’s most robust materials, sapphire crystal, and yet as a joke, Graham have provided each of the 50 lucky owners with a mini hammer in case of “emergencies” so they can attempt to grab the gold from the inside.
Graham Chronofighter Vintage Golden Junk Limited Edition
Described as “the perfect watch to enjoy a peaceful journey away from the turbulent shores”, the Graham Chronofighter Vintage Golden Junk Limited Edition showcases a handsome nautical-inspired aesthetic dressed in ocean blue and sailor red. The blue sun-brushed dial features 18 carat gold applied numerals and indexes and a stunning image of a Chinese sailing junk ship incorporated into the minute counter. The Calibre G1747 automatic movement also provides a red snailed seconds counter at 3 o’clock to represent the sun, a central chronograph seconds hand tipped with red colour and golden hour and minute hands coated with white Super-LumiNova.
Graham Chronofighter Vintage Pulsometer Limited Edition
The first Graham Watch a Week release that isn’t entirely brand new, the Graham Chronofighter Vintage Pulsometer Limited Edition delivers another mini-metronome to the wrist that can be used to measure human heart beats. Previous variations of this model have been tastefully presented with silver and black dials, but now with a facelift, the new limited edition of 250 pieces looks handsome in blue with a blue sun-brushed dial, blue calfskin leather strap, golden hands and a 44mm stainless steel case.
Designed to celebrate the Poya ancestral tradition, a Swiss ritual which involves ascending a herd of cows up to the mountain pastures for the sunny season, the Graham Chronofighter Grand Vintage Swiss Edition features a completely unmissable dial engineered from cow’s horn. The openwork steel with black PVD plate is beautifully engraved with the Swiss Poya tradition including a minute scale with Alpine flowers and the Swiss flag. To complete the look, the 47mm limited edition of 50 pieces is presented on a brown and white cowhide leather strap.
Graham Chronofighter Grand Vintage I Shot the Sheriff Limited Edition
A limited edition of only 25 pieces that has already proven to be incredibly popular, the Graham Chronofighter Grand Vintage I Shot the Sheriff Limited Edition tributes the famous song by Bob Marley with domed sapphire crystal glass with a laser engraving of the lyrics across its entirety. Mimicking the song, the glass also features a laser engraved sheriff star coated with gold 4N berlapoxy varnish and the limited edition number. The 47mm stainless steel piece also features the G1747 automatic chronograph movement, a power reserve of 48 hours and a 100 metre water resistance.
Graham Chronofighter Vintage 25th Anniversary Limited Edition
In celebration of their 25th anniversary, Graham have recreated the first iconic Chronofighter model with the Graham Chronofighter Vintage 25th Anniversary Limited Edition. Inspired by WWII bomb-timer instruments, the almighty chronograph is unmissable on the wrist thanks to its statement lever on the left side of the case, a careful placement which tributes the watches worn by flying officers who required easy access to the crown and pushers for making time measurements while in flight. The 25 piece limited edition features a striking black dial with snailed silver counters, a 44mm stainless steel case, domed sapphire crystal glass and the G1722 automatic chronograph calibre.
Graham Chronofighter Superlight Red Carbon Skeleton Watch
Another beautifully executed piece, the Graham Chronofighter Superlight Carbon Skeleton watch completely overwhelmed the industry on its release with its unmissable red translucent epoxy resin and black carbon fibre case and skeletonised dial. The G1790 automatic movement offers a mesmerising view of the balance wheel and escapement and provides a bi-compax chronograph layout for small seconds and 30 minutes counter and a power reserve of 48 hours. The superlight case weighs less than 100 grams and features resin with metal fibres moulded into it which creates an almost red translucent matrix of colours and shapes, a matrix that is completely unique in each design.
Graham Chronofighter Vintage Stingray Limited Edition
Another release to celebrate Graham’s 25th anniversary, the Graham Chronofighter Vintage Stingray Limited Edition is a reissue of the original Chronofighter Stingray watch but with a contemporary twist inspired by vintage cars. The thought-provoking dial features black snailed detailing, yellow Superluminova hour markers, turquoise blue numerals and red subsidiary dial hands, an array of colours that are impossible to miss. As expected, the limited edition of 25 pieces is coupled with the typical trigger on the left hand side of the 44mm stainless steel case.
Graham Fortress Limited Edition
Marking the beginning of an entirely new collection, the Graham Fortress Limited Edition is designed after the WWII flying military standards and boasts a rare chronograph automatic mono-pusher functionality. Classic in style yet special in technique, the start, stop and reset commands are all set from the crown pusher on the left hand side of the case. This position enables you to handle the 47mm chronograph with your thumb finger. The design is limited to only 100 pieces and features the G1750 automatic chronograph movement which can be witness through the sapphire crystal case back.
Graham Swordfish Limited Edition
Another re-edition of the brand’s first Swordfish series but this time with a more classic aesthetic, this Graham Swordfish Limited Edition showcases the original dial, the original movement and a 46mm stainless steel case. Iconic to the collection, the flat sapphire crystal glass features two portholes with +20% magnifying glasses for closer inspection of the 12 hour and 30 minute counters. The G1710 automatic movement also provides the limited edition of 25 pieces with a power reserve of 48 hours and central skeleton hour and minute hands decorated with lime green Super-LumiNova.
Graham Chronofighter Vintage VE-Day Limited Edition
Designed in honour of the British and Allied troops that brought us a landmark victory on May 8th, 1945, the Graham Chronofighter Vintage VE-Day Limited Edition celebrates the iconic day the war ended in Europe. The black lacqured dial is home to a variety of celebratory decorations including a matt grey watermarked map of Western Europe and silver inscriptions of VE Day and the date of victory. The 25 piece limited edition is presented in a 44mm stainless steel case equipped with the iconic fast-action trigger, domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and a hand-sewn black calfskin leather strap.
