Exploring the Gucci G-Chrono Watch Collection
Friday - 17 December 2021
Recently we have seen Gucci take watchmaking pretty seriously with the recent announcement of a new series of watches named the 25H – all of which come with a premium price tag and an in-house developed calibre. These new additions fit into the sports watch segment on the high-end watch market and come in a choice of steel, 18ct yellow gold and platinum – the latter two of which showcase a tourbillon movement through the surface of their dials at 6 o’clock. It has been impressive, to say the least, to see a fashion brand embark on a bold and daring new chapter in watchmaking. But before the 25H was even a concept, Gucci had been producing watches for men and women that combined the brand’s natural flair for Italian craftsmanship with a bold aesthetic. Since acquiring genuine Gucci watches as part of our impressive online range of luxury wristwatches here at Jura Watches, we have added models from some of the brand’s most popular lines. These include the G-Frame, G-Timeless, and GG2570 watches, not the mention the Gucci G-Chrono watch collection, which we’re going to look at in a little more detail today.
Gucci has been in the watchmaking game since the early seventies but only became a serious player during the 1990s. The G-Chrono watch collection is a place to seek a sporty, functional and practical wristwatch. Each one is backed by the provenance and success of this famous fashion house. Chronograph watches are the ideal timekeeping tool for bridging the gap between a sporty companion and a classic dress watch. Whether you’re wearing a chronograph for practical purposes or not, however, it does provide a very specific purpose. Gucci G-Chromo watches are equipped with additional functions and features compared to a regular time or time and date watch. They can measure heart rate, calculate average speed, and exude a technical look on the wrist.
Gucci G-Chrono watches offer all the functionality and legibility of a high-end luxury chronograph watch but at a much more affordable price. Some of the models from the range feature unusual dial layouts that look different from the standard 3-6-9 layout you would normally expect to see on a chronograph watch. What’s more, Gucci watches from the G-Chrono collection make great daily companions. Built from robust and long-lasting materials and with a sleek finish, these sporty models can be paired with casual attire at the weekend or something smarter by night.

This Gucci G-Chrono watch plays with different textures, tones and materials for a remarkably modern finish. It features the iconic G-Frame bezel that has become a signature design feature throughout the entire range. A black guilloche dial sits inside this sleek black PVD-coated bezel, creating a sense of depth and dimension alongside two yellow gold-coloured chronograph counter trims. Yellow gold-coloured accents are also seen in the stick markers around the hour track and in the partially skeletonised central hour and minute hands. These hands have received a treatment of luminous material on the top half, enabling for the time to be referenced with ease during the night or in dark conditions. Without a doubt, these yellow gold accents transform this sporty chronograph watch into a model that will pair easily with sophisticated attire for a formal event. In the day, however, this Gucci G-Chrono watch will look stylish alongside sportier attire. Yellow gold PVD-coated lugs lead to a classic black leather strap- yet another feature that enables the watch to match casual and dressy attire equally. The Gucci chronograph watch is powered by a quartz movement that sits inside a 44mm black PVD-coated stainless steel case integrated with 50-meter water resistance.

If the black PVD-coated stainless steel version of the Gucci G-Chrono watch is slightly too contemporary for your personal taste, this stainless steel option offers a more conventional-looking chronograph watch. The stainless steel model is once again equipped with 50-meter water resistance but features steel push-pieces as opposed to black PVD-coated ones. These push-pieces follow the curvature of the case’s round G-Frame-inspired bezel, creating a sleek and modern profile. A quartz-powered movement sits inside this model too, whilst the black guilloche dial features silver accents as opposed to yellow gold-coloured ones. The chronograph sub-counters are situated at 6 and 9 o’clock, offering a small seconds function and a 30-minute totaliser. The entire surface of the dial is protected by a lens of anti-reflective and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass. Wrapping around the wrist comfortably is an ergonomically crafted stainless steel bracelet with links executed in a mix of brushed and polished effects. The bracelet secures around the wrist with a folding clasp engraved with the Gucci lettering to match the Gucci-engraved crown at 3 o’clock, finished in a fluted effect to promote an easy grip when wanting to adjust the time.
