Day 11: Jura Watches Christmas Countdown & the Bremont Supernova Watch
Thursday - 22 December 2022
With a case design that has taken a total of 3 years to develop, the newly released Bremont Supernova watch, part of the Henley on Thames manufacturer’s H Generation, simply had to make it to our Christmas Countdown Luxury watches Advent Calendar feature at Jura Watches. The dress watch makes a perfect gift idea for him this Christmas 2022 and features the first of the brand’s integrated bracelets.
What are the best features of the Bremont Supernova watch?
If your loved one already owns a Bremont watch or two, this Christmas gift idea is sure to bring a little something new and unique to his collection. Bremont equips the new Supernova watch with a first – an integrated bracelet. Its design is beautifully executed in a mix of brushed and polished surfaces to enhance the faceted edges of each T-shaped link construction. These angular links not only sit comfortably against the skin thanks to their ergonomic design but are also incredibly durable. They evoke a free-flowing and fluid design that transcends from the top and bottom of the case, right down to the butterfly clasp at the end. The Bremont propeller motif has been meticulously engraved into the surface of this butterfly clasp, augmenting a sense of authenticity and quality craftsmanship.
One of the other key features of the new Bremont Supernova watch is its expertly manufactured movement. The ENG375 belongs to the company’s relatively new ENG300 series, launched last year for the first time in the limited-edition Longitude watch. To test its endurance, efficiency and accuracy, the movement is subjected to Bremont’s new in-house H1 Timing Standard, named after the brand’s Henley-on-Thames facilities but also Harrison’s first H1 marine timekeeper developed between the years 1730 and 1735. The ENG375 Calibre features a silicone escape wheel, a free-sprung hairspring, 22 jewels, rhodium-plated bridges, a gold-plated automatic bridge, and a solid tungsten rotor (decorated). Performance-wise, the ENG365 produces 25,200 beats per hour and delivers a power reserve of 65 hours. Its beautiful detailing and decoration can be observed via the watch’s flat sapphire crystal exhibition glass.
A detailed look at the other features of the Bremont Supernova watch
Whether your loved one is new to Bremont or has his own collection of favourite timepieces by this British brand, the newly released Bremont Supernova is a versatile and timeless option that pairs effortlessly with a myriad of attire choices. Although perfect as a dress watch, its power reserve indicator adds a subtle level of technical appeal to the timepiece – all finished with the integrated bracelet, giving the model an overall dressier feel. The hands on the Supernova’s dial sit on a raised surface, framed by concentric decoration lines. The hands and Arabic numeral hour markers are all treated with Super-LumiNova in blue emission against the mode’s midnight blue dial. It also features a minute chapter ring around the periphery of the dial marked out by five-minute increments, whilst subtle injections of red can be seen in the tip of the central second hand and the bottom scale of the power reserve indicator, accompanied by a nickel-plated power reserve hand. All of these features are protected by a flat scratch-resistant piece of sapphire crystal glass that has been treated with layers of Bremont’s anti-reflective technology.
Overall, the curvature of the lugs, facets and surface finishes of the Bremont Supernova brings together a unique balance of textures, details and crisp lines and the design has been revisited a total of 9 times before experts were happy with the finished product. This alone exemplifies the exquisite dedication and quest for perfection harnessed within each talented designer at Bremont. Nick English explains; “Not only have we had the challenges with scaling up the movement production here in the UK, but we have had to further invest in our case finishing to be able to build the new Supernova, whose final finishing transcends the norm of luxury watchmaking. There are very few watch companies able to build high-quality watch cases in-house and it is clear to us why this is so often the situation.”
