Fans of motorsport need only take one look at the new Chronoswiss Regulator Classic Carbon Racer watch to realise its potential. It’s striking red and black carbon dial instantly recalls the image of a car’s speedometer while the skeletonised subsidiary seconds dial give us a glimpse into the automatic winding engine. The Chronoswiss Regulator Classic Carbon Racer watch follows suit to many of its brothers in the Classic collection with a stainless steel case measuring to 41mm in diameter and 12.7mm in height and a water resistant rating of 100 metres. Fitted to the case is a polished knurled bezel, the brand’s signature oversized onion crown and scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass double coated with anti-reflective treatment. Sapphire crystal can also be found on the satin-brushed case back of the watch where you can witness the beauty of the automatic winding movement working inside.
The dial of the Chronoswiss Regulator Classic Carbon Racer captures all our attention with breathtaking racing motifs throughout. The black carbon fibre dial is detailed with circular graining and sporty red accents which instantly remind us of a racing car speedometer and the racetrack. The large hour subsidiary dial at the top takes centre stage with statement white Arabic numerals while the smaller seconds counterpart at 6 o clock captures attention up close with its mesmerising skeletonised aperture inspired by a racecar trim as it reveals the gears on the regulator module. The racing vibe continues with the use of Trigono-style hour and minute hands coated in glow in the dark Superluminova.
Powering each of the functions on the Chronoswiss Regulator Classic Carbon Racer is the C.295 automatic winding calibre, a Swiss made mechanical movement which has been modified in-house to include the regulator display of hour, minute and seconds. The movement also promises a power reserve of 42 hours, 28,800vph (4Hz) and features 27 jewels. When viewed through the exhibition case back, the calibre is decorated with Côtes de Genève engraving and a rhodium-plated rotor, polished pallet lever, escape wheel and screws.
To complete the sporty and sophisticated aesthetic of the timepiece, the new Chronoswiss bracelet design is included which features large, brushed central links with narrow polished links at the end. The contrast between the polished and brushed links looks remarkable in person and adds another touch of masculine elegance to the design.
