Bremont’s “A Deep Connection” Film Highlights the Beauty of the New Supermarine 2024 Watch

Bremont’s new campaign highlights the key role played by the majestic shark in our oceans and promotes the work carried out by shark conservationist, Ocean Ramsey through the recently redesigned Supermarine watch. 

The majestic shark is a keystone species of the ocean, contributing immeasurably to its ecosystem and proving vital to its stability. The apex predator helps balance the ocean’s food chain and contributes to the maintenance of coral reef habitats by regulating fish populations. By eating herbivorous fish, sharks protect carbon stores, dispersing grazing fish and reducing the effects of foraging. Sadly, the many ways that sharks help keep the ocean environment stable often go unnoticed. Many people don’t realise just how much of a key indicator they are to our oceans’ health.

Built For Ocean Exploration

Helping raise awareness of their importance is Bremont who has launched a new campaign that shines the spotlight on the stealthy underwater creature. They are far more than a terrifying, daunting presence in the ocean, with their beady eyes and razor-like jaws. These predatory ocean beasts play one of the most important roles within our seas. The British watchmaker has released a short film named “A Deep Connection” as part of its Take It Further concept. To promote the brand’s endeavours in pushing the limits of possibilities, it chooses the Supermarine watch collection. The series is home to a revamped collection of robust dive tools that are built to explore the oceans and all they have to offer.

This year, Bremont released a slew of new Supermarine watches that enhance and improve upon those that have been before them. Together, these new features offer a deeper level of performance and value. The watches comprise a seaweed green dial and matching green bezel reference SM40-ND-SS-GN-R-S on a green rubber band, the same model on a steel bracelet reference SM40-ND-SS-GN-B, a blue-on-blue model with a colour-matched rubber band reference SM40-ND-SS-BL-R-S and the same model on a steel bracelet reference SM40-ND-SS-BL-B. All models are 300-meter water resistant and feature anodised aluminium unidirectional rotating bezels. The watches are also sported on the wrists of those who have contributed to the production of Bremont’s short film on the oceans. 

Bremont’s Mission to Protect the Oceans

Bremont began forging relationships with conservationists and freedivers recently when it produced a limited edition watch designed in collaboration with Ocean Ramsey and her partner Juan Oliphant. Ocean is a shark conservationist herself, as well as a professional freediver and scuba instructor. She’s also an author and model, who uses these additional skills to promote the work she carries out for the Oceans, raising awareness of the importance of sharks within our seas. The Supermarine was a limited edition of just 400 pieces worldwide, measuring a 40mm diameter. Its all-grey design, based on the S302, was perfectly suited to marine environments with its 50-hour power reserve, 24-hour unidirectional rotating bezel, legible luminous-accented dial, and contrasting GMT hand. Throughout her work as a shark conservationist, Ocean has dived with over 50 different species of shark and specialises in educating people about the shark’s behaviour and importance.

In promoting these new Supermarine watches for 2024, Bremont aims to explore the stories of those who make it their mission to protect the oceans, as well as highlight the motivation behind Ramsey’s important purpose in this area of conservation. The film and promotional material for this ocean-focussed campaign have been conducted by talented filmmaker and photographer, Nolan Omura. Both the film and the stills used for the promotion of the campaign instil a sense of wonder and intrigue as they underscore the importance of sharks and their majestic beauty. Hawaii-based marine biologist Ocean Ramsey also co-founded the One Ocean Diving programme, which focuses on shark research and educational diving experiences that simultaneously promote the protection of sharks. The Qualities of the Bremont Supermarine 300M Watches

The new Bremont Supermarine 2024 watches are crafted from 904L stainless steel and boast an undulating shape, enhanced by all the hallmark features of this popular dive tool. The bezel is knurled and accented with luminous details, framing a dial in blue or green depending on the chosen model. The infinity-shaped links of the stainless steel bracelets are fluid and ergonomically formed for optimum comfort on the wrist, while the rubber band configurations are comfortable and supple.

Meanwhile, the watch features a date function at 3 o’clock, large legible hour markers and trapezoid indexes, luminous hands, and linear gradient dials. Other nice details are those such as the engraved caseback where you can flip the watch over and appreciate a map of the world’s oceans. The sports watch is also powered by a reliable automatic movement and promises a 300-meter water resistance, alongside a case front crafted from anti-reflective and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass. The material is second hardest to a diamond on the Mohs scale and protects the surface of the dial from damage caused by debris, heat, moisture and light.
