Bremont RFU 150 Limited Edition Watch Announced
Wednesday - 03 February 2021
As the freshly appointed Official Timing Partner for both England Rugby and Twickenham Stadium, Bremont show their support once again with a stunning new limited edition release to mark 150 years since the beginning of the Rugby Football Union. The Bremont RFU 150 Limited Edition watch honours a significant milestone in British sporting history, when the RFU was originally formed on 26th January 1871, with a spectacular design inspired by the sport and its players.
This time last year, Bremont announced they were the new Official Timing Partner to both England Rugby and Twickenham Stadium, providing all of Twickenham stadiums with official Bremont time-related match day content including match clocks showcased around the arena. They also released their first England Rugby-inspired timepiece, a well-received Bremont Rose watch. Now, with February 2021 marking 150 years since the RFU was founded and the first Six Nations game of the year starting this Saturday, Bremont have honoured the occasion with a special 150 piece limited edition watch. The COSC-certified GMT timepiece will also coincide with the British watch manufacturer’s first TV advertisement that can be seen pre-kick off this February 6th.
“It was an incredibly proud moment for me when I first saw Bremont timekeeping presiding over play at Twickenham, both an iconic stadium and an English institution. It has obviously been an incredibly challenging year for sport but not being able to enjoy sport in the same way has certainly highlighted its importance for so many. England Rugby really is as good as it gets and speaks to the core of what Bremont has always been about with our maxim of being Tested Beyond Endurance. We’re very much looking forward to seeing the Guinness Six Nations kick off and we’re thrilled to be part of these anniversary celebrations, commemorating such a landmark year in the sport.” - Giles English, Co-Founder of Bremont
Just like the Bremont Rose watch before it, the Bremont RFU 150 Limited Edition features a design inspired by the sport it commemorates. The stunning metal dial is dressed in the same dark blue as seen on England’s current alternative team kit while the hands are dressed in white and red to signify the colours of the first team kit back in 1871. At 12 o’clock, the year 1871 is printed beside the Bremont logo while Twickenham stadium is saluted on the 24 hour ring at 6 o’clock. The case back is also beautifully embossed with a special limited edition decoration inspired by the original Heritage Rose emblem, a design that first appeared on player’s caps in 1871 and remains on them to this day.
Based on their legendary Supermarine S500 model, the Bremont RFU 150 Limited Edition delivers a handsome, sports elegance aesthetic in the form of a 42mm satin polished stainless steel case and a blue ceramic unidirectional bezel with 60 minute scale, perfect for measuring elapsed dive times in pressures up to 500 metres. Assisting in its water resistance is an automatic helium escape valve, crown protector and domed sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment. Unlike other Bremont Supermarine watches, the new limited edition delivers additional functionality in the form of unique indicators for monitoring the match playing time. Between 35 and 40 minutes, red increments allow you to supervise the approach of half time and full time and on the additional five white increments that follow, any extra-time added can be followed.
Housed within the case of the Bremont RFU 150 Limited Edition watch is the BE-93-2AV automatic movement, a Swiss constructed calibre that has been COSC certified to be accurate to -4 to +6 seconds per day. Alongside 21 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and a power reserve of 42 hours, the Bremont RFU 150 watch also delivers classic central hands for hours, minutes and seconds, a arrow-shaped GMT hand and a date window at 3 o’clock. All of these features including the applied indexes and Arabic numerals at 12, 6 and 9 o’clock are decorated in glow in the dark Superluminova.
Limited to only a small quantity of 150 pieces, a number chosen specifically to honour the anniversary year, the Bremont RFU 150 watch doesn’t plan on sticking around for long – especially not with its remarkably reasonable retail price of £3,995. You can order the new Bremont RFU 150 watch for a limited time only on the Jura Watches website here or by getting in touch with the Jura Watches team on 01335 453453 or at help@jurawatches.co.uk.
