Bremont Launches New Waterman Apex Limited Edition Watch

The new Bremont Waterman Apex watch has been tested beyond normal limits for its practicality far under the water’s surface. Its 500-meter water resistance, stylish blue accents and elegant shark fin motif make this Bremont dive watch one of the brand’s most beautiful releases of all time.

Back in 2018, Bremont worked together with free-diver and ocean environmentalist, Mark Healey to test the reliability, performance and robustness of the Bremont Waterman Limited Edition watch, alongside the watchmaker’s Supermarine 500 sapphire crystal case back technology. If you remember this, you’ll be aware of how much of a success the limited edition watch of just 300 pieces worldwide proved to be. It had a 500-meter water resistance, deep blue applied indexes for easy readability and a GMT function for travel. Following this sell-out success is the new Bremont Waterman Apex watch for 2022. The successor is designed to celebrate life both above and under the water’s surface and belongs, once again, to Bremont’s much-loved Supermarine watch collection.

The sales for the new Bremont Waterman Apex will go towards supporting the non-profit organisation, Bimini Shark Lab and its ongoing quest to expand research and resources into an important area of oceanic conservation. To test the endurance, quality and performance of the new Bremont Waterman Apex Limited Edition watch is no other than ‘Waterman’ Laird Hamilton, known for his adventurous spirit out on some of the world’s largest and fiercest waves. The American sportsman has joined Bremont’s ever-growing family of Brand Ambassadors and is known for his stand-up paddle boarding, hydrofoil boarding and tow-in-surfing skills.

About the new Bremont Waterman Apex Limited Edition watch

The new Bremont Waterman Apex watch is limited to just 250 pieces worldwide and offers some pretty neat features, including a helium escape valve and crown protector, not to mention a superior water-resistance of 500 meters. The watch once again comes again with a GMT function and its movement offers a 42-hour power reserve. Let’s take a closer look at the new Waterman Apex watch for 2022…

The new Bremont Waterman Apex Limited Edition is built from stainless steel and developed under the watchmaker’s Trip Tick case technology, which comprises three separate sections and lugs that appear to melt over the sides of the case bezel in an elegant and beautiful way that resembles the edge of a wing section. On top of this robust bodywork is a scratch-resistant sapphire unidirectional bezel, which surrounds an interesting matte black dial adorned with a subtle shark fin motif amongst a wave-effect decoration – a discreet nod to the Bimini Shark Lab.

Upon the black metal dial of the new Bremont Waterman Apex watch is blue emission Super-LumiNova nickel-plated hands and hour markers in a mix of circular and pill-shaped profiles. Alongside the main hour and minute hands are a red-coated central second hand and a blue-coloured GMT arrow-tipped hand for following a second time zone. The shade of blue used for the GMT hand marries perfectly with the watch’s integrated ‘Harbour’ blue rubber strap. The stainless steel bracelet option, however, makes for a more elegant-looking finish against the wrist, especially when accompanied with smarter or more formal attire.

Chronometer rated to ISO 3159 standards, this new Bremont Waterman Apex watch combines its impressive 500-meter water resistance with other dive-ready features including the crown protecting guard, the helium escape valve, and a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass front treated with anti-reflective properties. The unidirectional bezel has crisp, clear markings that assist with the easy tracking of a 24-hour scale – the 12 o’clock location of which is highlighted with a luminous marking.

Coordinating with the shark fin motif on the dial is a blue custom rotor belonging to the modified Calibre BE-93-2AV, which has been chosen for the new Bremont Waterman watch. It beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour, comprises 25 jewels and offers a power reserve once fully wound of 42 hours. It also features a Nivaflex mainspring, an Anachron balance spring and a Glucydur balance wheel. The movement is protected inside Bremont’s patented anti-shock vibration mount technology and, as with all Bremont watches, has been tested to extremes to ensure its performance and endurance.

If you love dive watches and have a passion for ocean conservation, the Bremont Waterman Apex Limited Edition watch is the next watch to add to your collection. Whether you already own a Bremont watch or not, you’ll be doing your bit for the planet by supporting Bimini Shark Lab and its important role in advancing humankind’s knowledge of the biology of marine animals, particularly sharks and rays. To extend on this further, Laird Hamilton explains: “My journey as a waterman started when I was a child living in Hawaii. Big ocean, big winds, and a powerful land to have grown up in. Everywhere I looked were great watermen, the best in the world. Surfing and being a waterman were what I admired, it was part of my culture and our national sport. Quite simply, it was what I aspired to do.

The ocean is a place of equality, the grand master, the teacher. The ocean for me is life, without it there is no life on earth. Ocean conservation starts with people caring enough to get them to participate. I want to share with people the beauty and the majesty of the ocean. My hope is that in sharing my experiences I can inspire others to have their own and in so doing get them to really care, it takes an army. In Hawaii the sharks are your aumakua which means that the spirits of your ancestors live in the sharks. They are amongst the most magnificent and magical creatures to have ever existed and we need to protect them. The education that Bimini Shark Lab can offer is invaluable, having a deeper understanding empowers us to care in the way that we need. To have apex performance I need everything to be right, from my relationships to spirituality through to my equipment which of course includes my watch. The Bremont Waterman Apex is a piece of art, the level of craftsmanship that has gone into it is clear and its equally as durable having been built to be put through its paces, it can certainly go deeper than I can!”.

Adding to this further, the CEO and Head of Research for Bimini Shark Lab, Matt Smukall continues: “We’re truly honoured that Bremont is supporting Bimini Shark Lab with the launch of this special timepiece. Bremont’s contribution will provide vital aid for our ongoing oceanic research to ultimately advance the field of marine science, conservation biology and ultimately go some way to help protect our oceans legacy.”

To finish with, Giles English wraps up by expressing his excitement about this opportunity to work with Laird on the release of the new Waterman watch: “We loved working with Mark Healey to launch the original Waterman and we’re thrilled to now follow up with the Waterman Apex and to be celebrating another great Waterman. Laird embodies all that it means to be a true Waterman and constantly strives for his apex in all that he does, we’re excited to see him testing the boundaries of our watches and his sport together. Laird represents so much of what Bremont stands for: adventure, drive, determination, and innovation. We stand with Laird in passionately believing in ocean conservation and as such we’re thrilled to be supporting Bimini Shark Lab in their endeavours. We have a reputation for making incredibly tough and functional dive watches which are all tested intensively by the military and explorers alike, the Bremont Waterman Apex is no exception.”
