Bremont launches new SOLO Lady K watches

Welcoming the two new Bremont SOLO Lady K watches - a Tahitian black mother of pearl and white mother of pearl variation – both showered in scintillating diamonds for the first time in Bremont’s core collection and inspired by a special sailboat sentiment.

Bremont is no stranger to creating timepieces inspired by historical landmarks in time, or indeed, wristwatches dedicated to a pivotal moment in the lives of the two brothers who founded the company. This time, a new release tips its hat to a boat lovingly made by hand by their father – a gift to their adventure-seeking mother – the SOLO K watch. Just recently we have seen Bremont donate more of its efforts towards growing and nurturing its line of ladies’ watches. Last year we saw the limited edition women’s watch dedicated to the pioneering work of Professor Steven Hawking – a timepiece drenched in glistening diamonds and a meteorite dial. The SOLO K watch collection – released today – has certainly been worth the wait. The two 34mm models are forged from the principles of Bremont’s well-established line of aviation and military wristwatches. They also pay homage to the artistic and adventurous spirit of Nick and Giles’ mother, and the professional life led by their father as a skilled and passionate pilot.

Diamond-set Bremont watches are still quite a novelty amongst the brand’s outstanding collection of aviation instruments and military-based timepieces which, of course, have been geared towards male wrists before now. In fact, this is the first time Bremont has used diamonds for watches in its core collection. One noteworthy aspect to consider when admiring these two new additions is Bremont’s use of diamonds and the fact that the watchmaker sources all of its stones ethically by following the Kimberly Process. The Kimberly Process began in 2010 and was set up by several diamond-producing states in Southern Africa, who subsequently came together to discuss and target ways of combating the trading of blood diamonds to ensure that diamonds just those showcased in the Lady K watches have no involvement in financing violence by rebel movements and their allies involved in the diamond trading industry.

In the two new Bremont SOLO Lady K watches, eight round brilliant-cut diamonds have been claw-set and arranged around the hour track to accompany Arabic numeral hour markers at 12, 3 and 9 o’clock. The 6 o’clock location is occupied by a clear date aperture dressed against a silver or black wheel to enhance readability. These 1.3mm diamonds have a colour and clarity grading of GH and VS2 respectively. But that’s not all. Expert gem-setters frame the entire circumference of the dial with a polished bezel adorned in a total of 60 round brilliant-cut diamonds, adding a halo of light around a black Tahitian mother of pearl or white mother of pearl display. Together these diamonds amount to a carat weight of 0.7ct. Upon meeting the new Bremont SOLO Lady K watch for the first time, twisting either of these dials under the light ever-so-slightly gives you an idea of the spectrum of pearly pink, dusky purple and grey colours put on show as pockets of light hit the surface of each display. Enhancing a clear and unhindered view of these unique colours is a strong domed sapphire crystal glass lens - the same material that is used on the back of the watch, treated with layer-upon-layer of anti-reflective technology – a process that Bremont incorporates as part of its manufacturing process in all of its watches. Even more interestingly is the reason behind the Bremont brothers’ choice to use a black Tahitian mother of pearl dial for one of the models, being that it calls to mind the colours, shades and textures of the open sea of whose waves the inspired boat has ridden.

The two new Bremont Lady K watches are driven by the modified Calibre 11 BE-92AV based on the ETA 2836-2. A self-winding movement that is chronometer-certified and capable of producing a 42-hour power reserve. Equipped with 25 jewels and beautiful traditional decorative elements – the movement is revealed through the strong integrated flat sapphire crystal glass caseback mentioned earlier. Both of the models come completed on a two-tone stainless steel bracelet. The careful mix of brushed and polished surfaces of the links add definition to the bracelet, enabling it to be worn as a piece of jewellery as well as an elegant timekeeping instrument. The bracelet secures closely and comfortably to the wrist with a double deployment clasp engraved with the Bremont logo.

With hands polished in nickel and a strong 100-meter water-resistant stainless steel case forged from Bremont’s patented TripTick construction technology, the Lady K captured a luxurious sail-bearing lifestyle quite aptly. Furthermore, the brand’s commitment to quality, reliability and performance is strongly celebrated using a mix of modern and traditional watchmaking techniques. The case also features a DLC-treated barrel, sits at a depth of 10.5mm on the wrist, and features 4 stainless steel screws with polished heads on the caseback.
