Strengthening their relationship with Outerknown, Breitling launch their second watch with a conscience alongside a vibrant and colourful ECONYL® yarn NATO strap collection that consists of 18 styles in total. Co-founded by surfing legend and Breitling’s Surfers Squad member, Kelly Slater, Outerknown is a sustainable apparel brand that strives to make the world’s oceans and beaches a cleaner place.
Committed to designing outstanding dive watches since 1957 when the first ever SuperOcean was released, Breitling continue to build impressive underwater explorers that can survive unimaginable depths in style. In addition to their devotion to diving instruments, Breitling are dedicated to raising awareness of ocean and beach conservation through their partnership with Outerknown. Both brands take on the responsibility of highlighting the huge issue with marine waste working with the NGO Ocean Conservancy to tackle the problem. First up was the successful Superocean Heritage Chronograph 44 Outerknown launched last year, followed by the 2019 release.
Building upon their strong partnership with Outerknown, the innovative ECONYL® yarn NATO strap collection takes their commitment to the ocean one step further. Each strap is made from recycled nylon waste and is available in six different colours and four sizes (18mm to 24mm) to cater for individual taste. The 18 versions make an environmental statement showing that stylish, functional and high quality straps can be created whilst being kind to our planet. Each is fastened to the wrist with either a stainless steel or DLC-coated stainless steel buckle. The forward thinking strap collection raises awareness allowing for individuals to support the cause also. Accessible to a wide audience, the selection of colourful straps can be paired with any Breitling watch.
The new Superocean Outerknown wears the khaki version of the ECONYL® NATO strap created from nylon waste sourced from our oceans such as fishing nets. Based on the popular Superocean collection the 44mm stainless steel case features a ratcheted unidirectional bezel that guarantees precision when timing their dives. Complimenting its sustainable strap, the green dials hands and indices shine in the darkest of environments with the coating of SuperLumiNova. Powered by a Breitling Caliber 17, the design allows for a power reserve of roughly 38 hours offering reliability and accuracy at every dive. With an impressive water resistance of 1000 metres it will be the perfect companion for every underwater adventure.
On a mission to ensure that future generations will have the opportunity to enjoy clean, unpolluted oceans, Breitling take their love for the deep blue to the next level widening its focus to create sustainable diving instruments.
