Breitling Superocean Heritage II Watch Review

It’s been 60 years since Breitling first released their impressive Superocean professional diving watch; an anniversary certainly worth celebrating! To mark the occasion Breitling revisit the 1957 original releasing the Superocean Heritage II for the modern-day explorer. The new model demonstrates how far the brand have advanced in over half a century whilst appreciating the initial design.

Welcome the new dial that brings a charming sense of purity with a dynamic update for the contemporary 2017 audience; a clientele that embrace tradition yet always seek the new – a collision of retro nostalgia and modern advancement. The new watch face is sharp and slick opting for rectangular indices, larger arrow shaped hands and a date display at 6 o’clock (or 3 o’clock on the chronograph version).  Although the fundamental design principles remain the added details make more of an impact.

Whether you enjoy climbing mountains, conquering the skies or diving deep underwater the Superocean Heritage II is fully equipped; the perfect companion in fact for the adventure enthusiasts. Water resistant to 200m the diving instrument is fully operational during times of extreme pressure – the screw-locked crown will never falter. The fluted unidirectional rotating bezel consists of a 120-tooth system that guarantees highly precise adjustment and an extremely smooth rotation when checking a dive time or marking off various time measurements in aviation. The luminescent dot at 12 o’clock is a perfect marker when light becomes restricted.

A new steel bezel with an ultra-hard high-tech ceramic ring is both scratchproof and shock-resistant. The Superocean Heritage II is available in two diameters (42 and 46mm) with a 46mm chronograph option. Opt for either a black, gun  blue, bronze or cream dial on either a bracelet, leather or rubber strap.

Revisiting the iconic 1957 design allows for Breitling to showcase a timeless classic teamed with their watchmaking expertise that is sure to be around for another 60 years!
