Breitling Superocean Heritage II Chronograph 44 Outerknown Watch Review
Thursday - 08 November 2018
Breitling announce a new partnership that shares their concern for the problem of marine waste, both working with Ocean Conservancy. Hoping to raise awareness and to inspire individuals to clean up our oceans, the prestige brand has teamed up with Outerknown – a sustainable clothing company dedicated to the environment in the hope of improving the conditions across the world. The release of the Superocean Heritage II Chronograph 44 Outerknown proudly supports a sustainable future.
The new release debuts Breitling’s first strap made from ECONYL® Yarn, an ethically sourced fabric created using nylon waste such as fishing nets found in oceans across the globe – the perfect way for Breitling to make an important step towards a sustainable future especially with packaging made out of recycled materials. We will definitely be seeing the ECONYL® strap rolled out to other Breitling models from now on. The blue nato strap compliments the bold blue dial that is framed in a black case. The colour blue was chosen due to its association with the sea in which it is striving to support creating a powerful link to the blue planet.
Surfing legend Kelly Slater is co-founder of Outerknown and a member of Breitling’s Surfers Squad. Therefore, the collaboration allows for Breitling and Kelly to work more closely together. Sharing similar values the partnership is a natural fit that will bring a positive change to our oceans. The icon sees the effect of pollution first hand and is actively taking the necessary steps to keep our beaches and oceans clean. The Superocean Heritage II Chronograph 44 Outerknown is the perfect way to highlight the problem and show how everyone can do their bit.
The statement blue dial is framed in a black DLC-coated stainless steel case adding a striking finish. Turn the watch to view the caseback engraved with the Outerknown logo. The divers watch features a unidirectional ceramic bezel complete with a luminescent central dot at 12 o’clock. Both the LumiNova® coating on the dot and hands gives off a blue glow rather than the typical green that we are so familiar with.
Powered by the Breitling Calibre 13 mechanical chronograph movement, the bold design brings precision, performance and a sophisticated functionality to the wrist. The Superocean Heritage II Chronograph Outerknown adds to Breitling’s legacy, bringing together a meaningful partnership and a step towards a sustainable future.
