Breitling Releases New Endurance Pro Ironman Watch

Back in 2019, Breitling partnered with Ironman to create a Superocean watch with a difference. The triathlon challenge has bred many a champion and defeated plenty. The three-part race involves a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride and a 26.22 mile run between a 16-17 hour duration, I don’t know about you, but I’m getting tired just thinking about that. What I never get tired of, however, is seeing the many ways in which Breitling’s forward-thinking approach to modern watchmaking keeps churning out innovative ways for wearers to enjoy keeping time. Despite its undeniable sporty design, the new Breitling Ironman Endurance Pro timekeeper sits somewhere in between an activity watch and a lifestyle watch. It becomes clear after a few moments with the watch, just how much use a triathlete may get out of an instrument such as this.
Its 44mm lightweight case is forged from Breitling’s proprietary Breitlight polymer material, which promises a weight that is three times lighter than titanium and six times lighter than stainless steel. To give you an idea of how this watch would feel on the wrist, the entire weight of the watch head is 35g while the rubber strap itself weighs 30g. Enough said. That’s not all, though. The material is also hypoallergenic, non-magnetic, thermally stable and incredibly resistant to scratches, corrosion and traction.
Presented in the signature red Ironman colour, the gradient dial of the new Breitling Endurance Pro Ironman watch, which melts into blackness around the edge, communicates beautifully with the unique textured effect of the Breitlight case, enhancing a strong sense of originality. Housed inside this strong yet light case construction is the thermocompensated SuperQuartz movement – the Breitling Calibre 82. COSC-certified, the movement offers a 1/10th of a second chronograph function at 2 o’clock and a 30-minute totaliser at 10 o’clock. These sub-counters are balanced by a legible small second sub-dial at 6 o’clock bearing the iconic Ironman symbol. This feature replaces the usual Breitling logo. The SuperQuartz is one of the very few high accuracy quartz movements out there on the market, its robust protective environment guaranteeing that the movement is shielded from impact when taking part in the famous triathlon, or any other endurance event for that matter.
The new Breitling Endurance Pro Ironman watch is also 100-meter water-resistant and features a black two-directional rotating bezel with an engraved compass scale in white. This clearly marks the North, East, South and West points using a large bold font. You can also measure your heart rate with the Ironman Endurance Pro watch from Breitling since its red dial is equipped with a pulsometer around the edge, alongside Super-LumiNova coated Arabic numeral hour markers and hands. The trio of sub-counters are all filled in with a stealthy black colour, accompanied by a matching black date window at 4:30.
The Breitling Endurance Pro Ironman watch features an anti-reflective and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass front, an Ironman emblazoned caseback and fits comfortably to the wrist with a red Breitling-embossed rubber strap. The colour of the strap matches the red-coated screw-down crown at 3 o’clock and secures to the wrist with a Breitlight tang-style buckle.
