Bell & Ross Introduces the BR 05 Diamond

Three variations of the BR 05 Diamond have been released by aviation watch specialists, Bell & Ross. The designs boast round brilliant-cut diamonds set into a black dial at each hour location, more scintillating stones embedded into the iconic square-shaped steel case, and a choice between a rubber or matching stainless steel bracelet. For added fire and brilliance, the brand also offers the design on a steel bracelet set with a further 218 diamonds.

It was 2019 when Bell & Ross reached out to urban explorers with an extension to its iconic circle within a square design. The brand has always stood out from the crowd. The BR 05 watch caught people’s attention with its flight instrument-inspired design taken from the BR 01 and BR 03 lines, not to mention an exemplary choice of round watches, enriched with state-of-the-art materials and reliable mechanical movements. Just recently, Bell & Ross released the BR 05 GMT watch for avid explorers and those constantly on the go. Now it’s time to shine a light on the BR 05 watch design once again – and this time, it really is shining bright.

The new Bell & Ross BR 05 Diamond watch comes in three different iterations depending on how much dazzle you want to carry on your wrist. Think of the new release in three tiers. Three strengths. Level one – a steel model with diamond hour markers and a diamond set-case, fitted on a matte black rubber strap. Level 2 - a steel-on-steel model with diamond dot hour markers and the same diamond-set case with a satin and polished steel link bracelet. Level 3 - diamond hour markers, a diamond-set case and a satin and polished steel bracelet set with more dazzling stones in its links.

About the Bell & Ross BR 05 watch

When the BR 05 watch first launched back in 2019 it showed that Bell & Ross still had plenty left to prove. Lots to express. Avenues to explore. Still based on aviation dials that are found in the cockpit of fighter jets, the model continues to speak to the same audience it has always appealed to, but now with added diamonds, it resonates with urban explorers on a more glamourous level. Quirky and cumbersome, the chunky steel case of the BR 05 watch is dramatically oversized and so it’s only fair to say that tiny wrists can’t contend with its huge presence. Any wrist larger than “tiny” however, is sure to grab attention, plus collectors swear by the incredibly comfortable design of the BR 05.

Bell & Ross uses a mix of satin-brushed and polished finishes on the stainless steel case of the BR 05, which only adds further to the quality and depth of every family member in the series. There are also certain design elements that the watch shares with iconic steel sports watches of the 1970s, so those who have desired the likes of a Nautilus or Royal Oak watch are certain to succumb to the charm of the BR 05 watch and all it stands for.

The Bell & Ross BR 05 Diamond

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend but when we’re talking diamond-set Bell & Ross watches, well – that rule goes entirely out of the window. Each 40mm stainless steel case is set with 172 round brilliant-cut diamonds, meticulously laid into a satin-brushed and polished stainless steel case. If the watch proves anything, it’s that the case of a luxury wristwatch is far more than a protective house for any internally-fitted movement. Bell & Ross’ bold and daring square-shaped cases create huge wrist presence and, of course, with all four sides measuring the same length, the case takes up an even larger presence on the wrist than a rounded case. The BR 05 Diamond watch is also 100-meter water-resistant and topped with an anti-reflective and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass lens. This protects the surface of the dial from damage caused by heat, scratching, light, moisture and debris. The 172 diamonds set into the case of each of the three watches amount to a total weight 0.88 carats and the cases also feature a screw-down crown engraved with the Bell & Ross logo, as well as a crown guard. The back of the case is fitted with a sapphire crystal glass exhibition feature that exposes a 360-degree oscillating weight.

The dial of the Bell & Ross BR 05 Diamond watch is black – a clever choice by expert designers at the manufacturer’s La Chaux de Fonds-based-based facilities, since it enhances the fire and brilliance of each scintillating diamond chosen for the hour markers. The only position around the hour track that foregoes a diamond is the 3 o’clock location, which is instead taken up by a date aperture. The 12, 6 and 9 o’clock locations are also represented by lume-coated Arabic numerals to match the central hour and minute hands. There’s also a detailed minute track and unmissable Bell & Ross lettering stamped onto the watch’s black sunray surface. The diamonds on the dial amount to a total weight of 0.08 carats and interact nicely with the skeletonised central hands.

The new Bell & Ross BR 05 Diamond watches are each powered by the automatic BR-CAL.321. This self-winding calibre is based on the tried and tested Sellita SW300-1 movement and provides a 38-hour power reserve whilst beating at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour. Here’s where each of the three BR 05 Diamond watches differs. You can choose between a black rubber strap with a stainless steel satin-finished and polished pin buckle, or a plain satin-finished and polished stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp. For added opulence, there’s a version fitted on a satin-finished and polished stainless steel bracelet with a total of 218 round brilliant-cut diamonds integrated into the surface of the links.
