Bamford Releases New Commando GMT And Predator GMT Watches

Despite their late arrival onto the luxury watch scene, Bamford London are proving themselves to be one of the most capable with the announcement of three new military inspired watches: the Bamford Predator GMT, the Bamford Commando GMT Steel and the Bamford Commando GMT Blacksteel. Their GMT range has long been a favourite of ours, engineered with remarkable Swiss mechanical movements, automatic 24 GMT hand function and a wide number of unique colourways for every style and personality. We are certain this new trio will spark the interest of any sophisticated gentlemen looking for a military-inspired, stealthy look with unbeatable functionality.

Bamford London originally found success operating as an unofficial customizer of luxury watches like Rolex, TAG Heuer and Omega and it was George Bamford, the founder and genius behind the Bamford Watch Company, and his obsession for the unique that innovated the use of black DLC coating to create personalised timepieces. But it wasn’t until 2017 that Bamford released their own collection of watches after the ‘temporary ‘service’ watch that customers were given when they submitted their timepieces for in-house servicing became so coveted. Following the success of the Bamford Mayfair collection in 2017, we were then treated to the first Bamford GMT in 2019. For 2020, we are treated to three new variants of this iconic model with a new military inspired aesthetic.

The new Bamford Commando GMT and Predator GMT watches have a lot in common, differing only from their unique colourways. The Bamford Predator GMT makes a statement with its mysterious all-black design which includes a DLC coated stainless steel case and bracelet, dark grey internal rotating bezel and a black dial with white Superluminova hands and indexes. The Bamford Commando GMT Blacksteel is also available with a black DLC coated stainless steel case and bracelet while its more classic counterpart, the Bamford Commando GMT Steel, comes with a fine brushed and polished 316L grade stainless steel finish. Both Commando variants showcase a gorgeous military green dial with a matching green and black internal rotating bezel and white Superluminova hands and indexes.

All three new Bamford watch releases feature the iconic 60’s style of case, cushion shaped and measuring to 40mm in diameter. This stunning retro vibe extends even further to the vertical brushing running down its length and the crown situated at 10 o’clock for controlling the internal bezel. The three link oyster style stainless steel bracelets and folding buckle provide effortless wearability while the screw down case back and push in crowns ensure a water resistant rating of 100 metres.

Both Bamford Commando GMT watches and the Bamford Predator GMT house the Sellita SW300 automatic movement, based on the SW330-1. The screw down case back prevents us from seeing any of the intricate components working inside but we are instead promised an impressive power reserve of 42 hours, a frequency of 28,800vph and provided with classic central hands for hours, minutes and seconds, a central GMT hand and a date window at 3 o’clock.
