Aquadive Poseidon GMT Watch Review

There’s no denying that vintage-inspired dive watches are some of our best-selling pieces here at Jura Watches, and one that recently caught our eye was the Aquadive Poseidon GMT watch. Known as one of the industry’s most iconic and historic dive watch manufacturer’s, Aquadive has collaborated with Poseidon Diving Systems to produce an ultra-capable, limited-edition dive watch that brings the heritage of the two brands in a singular expression of classical nautical exploration.

Aquadive is a fairly new addition to the Jura Watches family and we couldn’t be more excited to showcase their stunning collections to you. First founded in the 1960’s, Aquadive thrived during an era when scuba diving was enjoying great popularity and divers were desperately in need of a way to track their time and depth underwater. Aquadive become one of just a few watch manufacturers dedicated to creating only professional diving watches, specialising in deep sea diving instruments that were durable, accurate and legible underwater. Unfortunately, the brand fell to the quartz crisis in the early 80’s but they were thankfully revived again in 2011 and have been quietly releasing some remarkable new watches for long-time and emerging fans.

The Aquadive Poseidon GMT watch pays homage to the very watches they created back in the 60’s and 70’s with a vintage cushion shaped case with an impressive water resistant rating of 1,000 metres. It’s design also celebrates Poseidon, a brand which has maintained a worthy reputation in the diving industry for producing gear suited for the rigors of cold water diving. The limited edition of 300 pieces features the Poseidon logo on the dial 9 o’clock and extends the yellow aesthetic across the design on its 24 hour scale, GMT hand and optionally on the rubber strap.

Measuring to 43mm in diameter and 14.1mm in height, the Aquadive Poseidon GMT Limited Edition wears nicely on any wrist size and is engineered from a solid block of stainless steel fitted with a scratch resistant ceramic unidirectional bezel with luminous markers especially designed for calculating dive time or decompression stops. The case also boasts a screw in crown with dual crown tube gaskets, sapphire crystal glass treated with anti-reflective coating and a screw down case back engraved with a minimal Aquadive ‘A’ logo and the unique serial number.

Housed within the case is the Swiss-made ETA 2893-2 automatic movement which provides central hands for hours, minutes and seconds, a large GMT hand for second time zone and a date window at 3 o’clock. The 21 jewelled self-winding calibre also promises a healthy power reserve of 40 hours and a frequency of 28,800vph. Each of the functions are presented neatly on a smooth black dial with sword shaped Superluminova coated hour and minute hands and Superluminova indexes. The Aquadive Poseidon GMT Limited Edition is completed by an ISOfrane rubber strap, a soft yet durable material which fits effortlessly over a bare wrist or wetsuit. There will be two straps included with every order, a classic black or a sporty yellow one.
