An Overview of the Montblanc Star Legacy Blue Capsule Chronograph Limited Edition
Friday - 10 March 2023
There are just 1,786 pieces of the recently released Montblanc Star Legacy Blue Capsule Chronograph watch available. The 42mm model, inspired by 20th-century pocket watches is presented in an intense blue shade that evokes the “Blue Hour” when the sun goes down behind the Mont Blanc mountain and the moon rises against a rich blue sky at dusk as the stars come out to shine.
The design of the Montblanc Star Legacy watch is an important one. Its case is inspired by Minerva pocket watches from the 20th century and features a rounded, pebble-shaped profile that looks great on the wrist whether wearing it with a formal suit or something more casual at the weekend. What’s more, the roots of the collection are inextricably linked with the Montblanc emblem created in 1913, just 7 years after the company was founded. The emblem is a bird’s eye view of the mountain and its 6 valleys represented in a six-pointed star shape. It formed the inspiration behind the Star Legacy collection, including this new Blue Capsule Chronograph watch, limited to just 1,786 pieces worldwide and paying homage to the year that Jacques Balmat became the first man to have reached the summit of the mountain during the “Blue Hour” at 18.23 pm on August 7th, 1786. The watch has been released alongside a moonphase watch and a simple time and date model, both of which are also limited to just 1,786 pieces worldwide to mark this special year in history. Here are all the details you need to know about the recently released Montblanc Star Legacy Blue Capsule Chronograph watch.
The Montblanc Star Legacy Blue Capsule Chronograph Limited Edition watch
The limited edition Star Legacy Blue Capsule Chronograph watch from Montblanc features a 42mm stainless steel case that has been beautifully shaped to recreate the style of Minerva pocket watches from the 20th Century. Crafted from stainless steel, it offers a 50-meter water resistance and an exhibition caseback crafted from transparent sapphire crystal glass adorned with the Montblanc lettering in a golden hue. Behind this decoration, you can enjoy a performance from a reliable automatic movement named the Calibre MB 25.13, which produces a power reserve of 56 hours and performs at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour.
The dial of the Montblanc Star Legacy Blue Capsule Chronograph Limited Edition watch is the talking point of the design, however. It boasts a layered ice effect inspired by glacial textures found at Mont Blanc. The Mer de Glace is the main glacier at Mont Blanc, which transpired as an intricate texture in this stunning dial and is achieved through a stamping process. The deep blue tones, evoking the special time of night when Jacques Balmat reached the summit of Mont Blanc are enhanced furthermore by rose golden elements that represent the gold in which the mountain climber went in search of. The elegant leaf-shaped hands in a rose golden hue are a perfect match for the intense blue tones of their backdrop and are accompanied by an hour track represented in Arabic numerals.
The chronograph counters of the Montblanc Star Legacy Blue Capsule Chronograph watch are presented in a bicompax layout with a 30-minute sub-counter located at 3 o’clock and a small seconds counter at 9 o’clock with a rose gold hand. The chronograph 30-minute and central chronograph seconds hand are identifiable by their rhodium-coated finish, whilst a date window at 6 o’clock completes the dial.
The Montblanc Star Legacy Blue Capsule Chronograph watch is completed on a five-link stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp that has been engraved with the Montblanc lettering.
