A Look at the TAG Heuer Carrera Date 29mm

TAG Heuer launches a blue sunray and white mother of pearl dial version of the Carrera Date in a 29mm size. Each come with a choice of baton indexes or diamond dot hour markers – all powered by the tried and tested Calibre 9.

If to you, the TAG Heuer Carrera represented a foray into the world of luxury watch collecting, just like it has done for so many, it will, no doubt, always have a special place in your heart. Known for its elegance, its modesty and its classic, understated sporty appeal - there has never been anything quite like the TAG Heuer Carrera watch in all the history of luxury sports watches. And there probably never will be. Tag Heuer has recently released some new lines that include 13 elegant new reinterpretations of the already popular watch with a sporty spirit. These comprise four new 41mm Day Date watches, a Twin-Time Date watch with an additional time zone, four new 39mm Date models and four new 29mm Date watches for ladies. It’s the latter that we’ll be exploring today.

Before we start, it’s worth mentioning that the Carrera watch has never been more suited to the slender female wrist. These new releases, whether we’re talking about the men’s 41mm or 39mm models or the delicate 29mm lady’s sizes, are more refined, classic and elegant than ever before. There have been some subtle but influential differences made to these new variants. In-fitting with the 2021 Aquaracer models and the 2020 Carrera Chronographs of last year, legibility and clarity are key features that TAG Heuer has focused on primarily, with redesigned indexes that now take on a rectangular profile as opposed to the former triangular-shaped indexes, and of course, the date feature, which now resides at 6 o’clock, creating an appealing sense of balance and harmony.

The new TAG Heuer Carrera Date 29mm watches

The new TAG Heuer Carrera Date 29mm models come in four variants. The ref: WBN2410.BA0621 features a white mother of pearl dial with rhodium-coated hour markers that convey a baton shape and matching rhodium-coated central hands. The reference: WBN2411.BA0621 features a blue dial with rhodium-coated indexes and central hands once again. The TAG Heuer Carrera Date 29mm watch ref: WBN2412.BA0621 features a white mother of pearl dial with 11 scintillating diamond-set hour markers around the hour track. These catch the light effortlessly underneath a protective sapphire crystal glass front and interact nicely with Super-LumiNova-coated central hour and minute hands and a polished second hand. The reference WBN2413.BA0621 features a blue dial with faceted diamond dot indexes and luminous coated rhodium hands in the same fashion. The two blue models also boast a sunray effect across the surface of the dial and all models feature a date aperture at 6 o’clock, balanced by the TAG Heuer logo at 12 o’clock. For the white mother of pearl and blue non-diamond versions, the baton indexes are treated with a layer of Super-LumiNova for assistance with timekeeping in the night or dark conditions. The hands on all four new iterations are polished to match the finishes of the case.

The new TAG Heuer Carrera Date 29mm watches are all crafted from stainless steel and feature a polished surface. The sapphire crystal glass front, which protects each display has received a double coating of anti-reflective technology to its surface. This feature rids the dial of any undesirable glare whilst needing to reference the time during the day or night. All models feature a crown at 3 o’clock and have been integrated with 100-meter water resistance. They also feature a sapphire-backed case. This scratch-resistant and crisp glass lens grants a clear view into the movement’s rose gold-coloured oscillating weight, together with its Cotes de Geneve decoration and TAG Heuer-engraved signature. The Calibre 9 - the beating heart for the Carrera Date 29mm watch - is capable of producing a 40-hour power reserve and performs at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour. It also features a rapid date correction function and comprises 11 rubies.

The new lady’s 29mm TAG Heuer Carrera Date watches in white mother of pearl and blue sunray dials are all fitted on an ergonomically formed H-shaped stainless steel bracelet, with links executed in fine-brushed and polished finishes. The H-shaped links not only symbolize the “H” letter in reference to the Heuer name but are also thinner and lighter for optimized comfort on the wrist. The folding clasp on the bracelet is polished and has been emblazoned with the iconic TAG Heuer shield logo upon its surface, together with a double push-button mechanism.
