A Look at the new Bremont Maya Ladies Watch

Bremont builds on its esteemed ladies' watch collection with a new design inspired by the Cenotes found in the Yucatan Peninsula. The shimmering sacred cave pools are echoed through an indulgent Tahitian mother of pearl dial, punctuated by elegant rose gold-coloured appliques to match a surrounding luxurious 18ct rose gold bezel.

Supreme packaging, beautifully engineered chronometer-certified movements and dials that literally make you melt – that’s the Bremont ladies' watch range and it’s growing all the time. Perhaps Bremont is still primarily respected for its range of beautifully engineered pilot’s watches designed on historic flying aircraft, but the brand’s more recent range of watches for women is certainly making heads turn. The Maya collection is the latest to represent Bremont’s intriguing range of luxury watches for women and, just like the British company’s men’s range, each model has an interesting story waiting to be unravelled. First and foremost, the Maya watch from Bremont is a design of its very own. It features a Tahitian mother of pearl dial completed on a choice of three straps; a pink alligator embossed calf leather band, a grey calf leather band or a stainless steel bracelet. These deep indulgent and almost oil-like hues demand complete undivided attention and are inspired by something pretty unique and cool...

It’s already becoming increasingly difficult to pick a favourite from Bremont’s broadening range of ladies’ watches. Not so long ago, the Henley-On-Thames watchmaker launched a timepiece inspired by a boat crafted by the hands of the Bremont brothers’ father. The sailboat was a gift to their mother – a serious seafaring junkie. She loved the seas. Her husband loved the skies. It was a match made in heaven – quite like Bremont’s pioneering spirit for perfectly engineered chronometers and its passion for all things mechanical. The two simply go hand-in-hand. That’s exactly why each Bremont watch has such a large and loyal following. These watches hide a great deal of meticulous craftsmanship under their hood, but on the surface, their designs are effortlessly stylish and feel at ease upon the wrist of any professional pilot, classic car enthusiast or explorer. Speaking of exploring, the location that has inspired the design of the new Lady Maya watch is a hot spot for tourists and adventure-seekers…

Shimmering sacred pool-inspired dials

The Yucatan Peninsula in North America separates the Caribbean Sea from the Gulf of Mexico. The area is dominated by limestone and so there are vast areas covered by sinkholes and caves. These Cenotes are considered sacred and ceremonial, as well as a source of clean, sweet-tasting water, which supplied the people of ancient Maya with a sustainable water source many years ago. The Cenotes have become the inspiration behind the latest ladies' watch from Bremont. The captivating pools are mimicked in the shimmering shades of the watch’s Tahitian mother of pearl dial, forming a practical and contrasting backdrop against a set of rose gold hands and hour markers.

The new Bremont Maya

The new Bremont Maya watch measures a very comfortable size for the female wrist. The diameter of the case spans 37mm and is coupled with a height of 12.95mm. Crafted from stainless steel using Bremont’s patented Trip-Tick case construction, the case is topped with an alluring 18ct rose gold bezel and a delightful rose gold crown. A domed scratch-resistant piece of sapphire crystal glass has been treated with layers of anti-reflective technology to grant a clear and concise view into the dial without any undesirable glare affecting timekeeping. The watch is also 100-meter water-resistant and features a stunning exhibition caseback that reveals the workings of a chronometer-certified movement in motion.

The Tahitian mother of pearl dial of this new Bremont Maya watch, as mentioned, offers its central hour, minute and second hands in a rose gold plating, as well as its hour markers. The 12 o’clock triangle, together with the 3, 6 and 9 o’clock Arabic numerals are all coated in Super-LumiNova material, as are the central hour and minute hands. A date window is located at 3 o’clock, whilst the minute scale is presented in a silvery off-white shade. The central second hand is adorned with a red circular motif and the Bremont lettering takes residence in its usual location under the 12 o’clock area.

Inside the case of the new Bremont Maya watch is the Calibre BE-36AE.D. It comprises 26 jewels, a Glucydor balance, an Anachron balance spring and a Nivaflex mainspring. It performs at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour and delivers an impressive power reserve of 38 hours once fully wound. It also promises improved shock resistance thanks to a modified automatic winding bridge and showcases a stunning Bremont-decorated rotor through the surface of the watch’s sapphire-backed case.

The new Bremont Maya watch comes in two options. A pink alligator embossed calf leather band induces a resolutely feminine feel, whilst the grey calf leather strap creates a sophisticated and reserved undertone, making it an ideal option for pairing with professional attire. Both straps are completed on a stainless steel Bremont-engraved fastening. Alternatively, a stainless steel bracelet option creates a dressier feel and is completed on a folding clasp with a push button release mechanism.
