A Look at the Breitling Top Time B01 Classic Cars Chevrolet Corvette Watch

Today, we’re test-driving the new Chevrolet Corvette watch from Breitling’s Top Time Classic Cars series, now outfitted with a beautifully performing in-house movement that is showcased through a sapphire exhibition feature sealed to a new 41mm steel case.
Those that loved the automobile-inspired trio of Top Time watches released in 2021 by Breitling will be pleased to hear that the line has been extended, with former models having received a slight revamp. The new models are now powered by an in-house movement, which sits inside a re-sized case, showing off its beautiful performance behind a sapphire crystal glass exhibition feature on the rear. What’s more, the line has grown to accommodate the Ford Thunderbird edition – a steel and white design with red accents and a striking red perforated leather band or steel mesh bracelet option. In this article, however, we’re going to take a look at the new Chevrolet Corvette iteration, complete with a vintage Breitling and Corvette logo splashed across its dial at 12 o’clock and a trio of sporty black-filled chronograph counters.
The re-released Breitling Top Time B01 Classic Cars Chevrolet Corvette watch is inspired by the Chevrolet Corvette car of the 1960s. The Chevrolet Corvette had clearly established itself as an American sports car by the year 1960 and it continued to grow in popularity from then onwards. By this point in time, Corvette had been enjoying a 7-year history and was developing this model rapidly. Whilst doing so, its design was improving and evolving. Its top power rating and Ramjet fuel injection had grown and pretty soon after this, the Corvette C2 would launch with its distinct “Sting Ray” styling. Today, the mid-engine American sports car is now on its 70th edition of the “Sting Ray” and its popularity is showing no signs of slowing down – a little like Breitling’s Top Time watch collection The Sting Ray version was the second edition of the car, which featured a major front-end restyling, including an independent rear suspension and a major chassis redesign. In the new Top Time Classic Cars watch by Breitling, the sporty red accents are celebrated with a touch of orange and yellow seen in the tachymeter scale and the sub-hands of the chronograph counters.

The new Breitling Top Time B01 Classic Cars Chevrolet Corvette watch is now powered by the in-house manufactured Breitling B01 movement, complete with an improved power reserve of 70 hours compared to the model’s former 42-hour power reserve. It also performs at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour and comprises a rigorous COSC certification. The movement achieves top functionality and reliability via the refined mechanics of Breitling’s highly skilled team, which are now made visible through a caseback fitted with a sapphire crystal glass. This tough glass surface is also emblazoned with the Chevrolet Corvette emblem in colour, adding a unique and extra special detail to the design.
As mentioned, the new Chevrolet Corvette watch from Breitling is executed in a deep red colour, with chronograph counters that are filled with black and positioned in the classic 3-6-9 layout. The entire dial is surrounded by a black tachymeter scale for measuring time based on speed and has received splashes of vibrant orange and yellow colours that match the hands of the 30-minute and 12-hour sub-dials at 3 and 6 o’clock. The baton hour markers around the hour track of this model, together with the faceted hands at the centre of the dial are all treated with Super-LumiNova to assist with timekeeping in the night. The surface of the dial is then shielded by a strong piece of sapphire crystal glass, complete with layers of anti-reflective treatment that rid the dial of any undesirable glare when referencing the time under light.
