A Close Look at the Bell & Ross BR 03 92 Diver Orange

Clad in steel and orange tones, the limited edition Bell & Ross BR 03 92 Diver Orange is a powerful 300-meter water-resistant tool watch, compliant with dive watch standards and exclusive to just 250 pieces worldwide.

You can’t mention Bell & Ross in a conversation without thinking of its inextricable links with the military and aviation industry. The manufacturer is a master in this field of expertise, yet diver watches have always been of interest to the brand. Recall the BR 02 watch collection, for example, or indeed the oil-filled Hydromax watch with a staggering 11,000-meter water resistance. In fact, it wasn’t all that long ago that Bell & Ross combined the dive watch concept with its instantly recognisable square-shaped case for a powerful tool watch look. Named the BR 03 92 – the watch was an instant success and there are no prizes for guessing why.

Today we’re taking a closer look at the Bell & Ross BR 03 92 Diver Orange watch. Thanks to its sub-aquatic capabilities, the watch makes use of the inaugural steel case, impressive water resistance and luminous markings that many a dive watch requires to meet ISO 6425 standards. Furthermore, it features a unidirectional rotating bezel with a legible 60-minute dive scale. The Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver Orange is limited to just 250 pieces – a factor that, no doubt, only adds to the appeal and desirability of the dive watch.

The dial

The new limited edition BR 03 92 dive watch rocks a retro vibe with a strong 1970s look. The iconic orange dial can be mistaken for no other than a professional dive watch, especially when we think back to the famous DOXA SUB300T Professional watch, designed in collaboration with Jacques Cousteau. The attention-grabbing dial of Bell & Ross’ dive watch makes for an incredible contrast against the Super-LumiNova-filled hands and indexes. These features pop against the vivid orange backdrop and feature a bright white centre, trimmed in a matte black border. As with many vintage dive watches. The central second hand is the lollipop style, travelling over a discreet circular date function at 4:30 every 60 seconds. The minute scale is equally as easy to reference and is raised against the flange, identified by crisp black markings.

The case:

The Bell & Ross BR 03 92 Diver Orange Limited Edition watch measures a 42mm x 42mm case and has been crafted from robust stainless steel. The casebands are vertically brushed with polished accents, whilst the top is radially brushed. The bevelled sides are also polished, as are the screws which give the timepiece a subtle industrial-inspired flavour. The black unidirectional rotating bezel can only rotate in the counter-clockwise direction. This feature ensures diver safety since the remaining dive time can never accidentally become extended. The black anodised aluminium insert is easy to reference and effortless to manipulate whether operating the wristwatch underwater or on dry land. The sapphire crystal glass front which protects the dial offers a thickness of 2.85mm, shielding the display from scratches, dents, dust, moisture, heat and direct sunlight. A screw-down crown is fitted on the side of the Bell & Ross BR 03 92 Orange Diver watch. It complies with the ISO 6425 standards in diving with a large accompanying crown guard for added protection. Of course, the luxury steel dive watch is water-resistant up to 300 meters and the crown has also been topped with a protective rubber structure.

The movement:

The Bell & Ross BR 03 92 Orange Diver Limited Edition watch is powered by the calibre BR-CAL.302. Based on the Sellita SW300-1, it offers a 38-hour power reserve and beats at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour. It has featured throughout the brand’s catalogue, including other BR 03 92 designs, some BR V1 and V2 models, the BR 03 Golden Heritage watches and the BR 01 92 10th Anniversary watch. Equipped with the basic hours, minutes, seconds and date functions, its architecture is protected against magnetic fields thanks to a soft-iron cage. The self-winding engine remains hidden behind a solid stainless steel case that is screwed down onto the main body. The caseback is also engraved with a diver motif and the watch comes complete inside a special water-resistant box with two additional straps – one orange fabric and one black rubber.
