Maurice Lacroix Watch Supports Kiteboarding World Record

Maurice Lacroix sponsored a record breaking kiteboarding expedition, supporting two brothers as they navigated the 560km Strait of Magellan in South America.

Geza and Andre Scholtz, both dentists from Zurich, were able to set a world record on January 7th 2013 by kiteboarding the strait. They faced strong winds, icy temperatures and poor visibility in their attempt to overcome one of the world's most difficult and dangerous routes, and were supported by Maurice Lacroix under the slogan 'Your Time Is Now'.

"We were stretched to the limit and we fought on to the end," said Geza Scholtz. "To have achieved our goal is an indescribable feeling."

The Strait of Magellan lies between the southernmost tip of South America and the island of Tierra del Fuego, and is usually only used by large transport vessels due to its low temperatures and extreme weather conditions.

"We congratulate the expedition team, who proved once again that we should always hold on to our dreams in order to make them come true," said Marc Gläser, managing director of Maurice Lacroix SA. "In spite of the difficult conditions, the time was right for the team to rise above all the challenges."
