Corum Watch Sponsored Energy Team Leads AC World Series
Friday - 18 May 2012
As Official Timekeeper, Corum is supporting the French Energy Team's bid for the 34th America's Cup. The penultimate stage of the AC World Series is taking place in Venice from 15th-20th May. Energy Team began strongly, finishing third in the first race and winning the second to take overall first place.
"Energy Team made it to the top of the mountain today. We’re extremely pleased about this result," said Loïck Peyron, team skipper and Corum brand ambassador. "We’ve got a great crew and I’d like to congratulate the lads. These boats are fantastic to sail." Peyron wore his Trophée Jules Verne 2011-2012 watch during the races: a special edition of the Admirals Cup Seafender 48 Chrono Centro that was awarded to him after winning the Jules Verne Trophy earlier this year.
Corum is keeping fans updated on the team's progress through its dedicated sailing website and social networks. "To participate in the America's Cup is every sailor's dream and by definition, the dream of a brand like Corum, who has been a key player in the field since 1960," said Antonio Calce, Corum CEO.
The final stage of the AC World Series will begin in Newport, Rhode Island, USA on June 26th.
