Wenger Watch Ambassador Attempts Everest Climb

Wenger brand ambassador Ueli Steck is preparing to climb Mount Everest.

The professional mountaineer has already climbed some of the world's most demanding mountain routes, including the Schmidt Route of the Matterhorn (4,477m in 1 hour, 56 minutes, 40 seconds), the Heckmair Route of the Eiger (3,970m in 2 hours, 47 minutes, 33 seconds) and the Mac Intyre Route of Grandes Jorasses (4,208m in 2 hours, 21 minutes, 28 seconds). In 2008 he became the first winner of the Eiger Award for achievements in mountaineering, and he has broken a number of world records.

Ueli Steck's latest expedition, Khumba Express II, is currently underway. He plans to scale the Cholatse Northface, the Tawoche Northface and the Ama Dablam Northface in the Everest Region, accompanied by his climbing partner, Freddie Wilkinson. Steck describes the feat as the "perfect challenge of modern mixed-climbing".
Steck is writing a series of blog posts about their progress at the Wenger website, revealing that the duo have already experienced some setbacks due to treacherous weather conditions.. "[Everest] remains the highest mountain in the world and the air up there is the thinnest," he writes. "Mistakes can lead to tragedy. You cannot turn back time."
Wenger is supporting Steck in his brave expedition, and is proud to list the mountaineer as an ambassador for the brand: "The bold combination of inherent fearlessness, and exceptional perseverance have made Ueli Steck one of the most revered mountain climbers in the world. But it is his incomparable speed that has made him a living legend."
