Bell & Ross pride themselves on their four-point design formula: readability, functionality, precision and water resistance, with the BR01 standing as the epitome of this no-frills approach to watchmaking. These watches are ascetic bastions of utility, stripped of any extraneous detail that might compromise its simple functionality. However, for the latest member of the family, the Swiss watchmaker has added a fifth pillar to their doctrine, elegance. The BR03 White Ceramic is the Bell & Ross’ answer to the concentrated masculinity of their aeronautical range and they have achieved this by replacing the black carbon-powder coating with a high-tech white ceramic, by reducing the size from 46 mm to 42 mm and by including a natural white mother-of-pearl dial encircled by a diamond-set bezel. Although this touch of Haute Joaillerie slightly nullifies the purpose of the anti-reflection sapphire crystal, the BR03’s strong identity does introduce a level femininity to an otherwise Spartan workhorse..
