Anyone who’s seen his Channel 4 series Born Survivor will know that Bear Grylls is a bit of an outdoors type. Being ex-SAS, and more than a little adventurous (not to mention self-consciously telegenic), it obviously matters what watch he sports as much as which crampons he uses. And so far, Grylls’ Bremont ALT1-P chronograph has weathered its punishing road test admirably, just in time to put Bremont’s first customers’ minds at rest. If the youngest survivor of an Everest summit expedition (not to mention the survivor of a triple-spinal-fracture parachute accident) can’t break the 2,000 Vickers hardened case dressing the English brand’s watches, there can’t be many who can. And that includes Mike Golding and Charley Boorman – Bremont’s other devoted, intrepid ambassadors.
