Wednesday - 15 February 2012
A timepiece from luxury watch brand Maurice Lacroix has won the main prize at the Red Dot Design Awards.
The limited-edition Pontos Décentrique Phases de Lune Maurice Lacroix watch
will be given the “Best of the Best” award, whilst the Masterpiece Régulateur Roue Carrée, also a limited edition, will receive the “Red Dot Distinction". Both watches have been picked out from over 4,400 entries.
The Red Dot Design awards is one of the most prestigious international product design events and the “Best of the Best” award is given to products which exhibit outstanding design and quality.
Professor Dr Peter Zec, who set up the Red Dot Design Awards, said: “Our judges have subjected the entries to extremely critical scrutiny. Design quality has always been central to the jury’s decisions, with recognition also for genuinely new creative solutions.
"These two criteria are yardsticks not only of good design, but also of potential market success. Such potential is greatly enhanced by the targeted use of our prestigious design prize.”
