Designer watch brand Tissot has again been appointed as Official Timekeeper of Switzerland’s Tour de Romandie.
The race, which has been running annually since 1947, will take place from 26 April to 1 May in Romandie, the French-speaking area of Switzerland. Riders will tackle a number of challenges, including time trials, and will attempt difficult terrains, such as the Jura Mountains and the Alps. The competition is part of the International Cycling Union (UCI) ProTour and Tissot has partnered with the UCI since 1996.
A spokesperson for Tissot watches said: This varied programme enables Tissot to demonstrate high-tech timing technology specifically developed for cycling as well as its broad experience of sports timekeeping gained from diverse disciplines ranging from MotoGP to basketball.
He added: The 2011 Tour de Romandie will provide an excellent platform for the Swiss watch brand to demonstrate its timekeeping and data handling expertise to an international audience from within its home territory.
