Wednesday - 15 February 2012
Designer watch brand Tissot has been chosen as Official Timekeeper and Sponsor of the FIM Superbike World Championship.
The sponsorship agreement will last several years and is effective immediately. In fact, Tissot already made its first appearance at the Superbike round in Assen, Netherlands earlier this month. In its new role Tissot will be visible at all events in the road racing series, which will involve 13 rounds taking place in 10 different countries. The event has considerable appeal and was last year shown in 173 countries. It was calculated that, in all, 489 million people saw it – a 33% increase on the year before.
François Thiébaud, President of Tissot watches said: "The image fit with Superbike - speed and timing, precision and high performance - presents Tissot products in the right context and the growing television audience ensures a worldwide transmission of our messages. For more than a decade, Tissot has been the Official Timekeeper of MotoGP.
"Now, Tissot is proud to add this other major motorcycling World Championship, World Superbike, to its sponsorship activities, a category which brings motorcycling fans the link between great motorcycling champions and the public."
