Tissot T-Race MotoGP Limited Edition 2020 Watches
Wednesday - 26 February 2020
Just like clockwork, Tissot are back again with the release of two brand new Tissot T-Race MotoGP Limited Edition watches for 2020. These highly collectable models make their debut almost every year, and each time are swept away by luxury watch collectors and motorsport enthusiasts. We expect no different for the two new releases that continue to commemorate the Swiss watch manufacturer’s partnership with MotoGP as their Official Timekeeper, a collaboration which celebrates its 19th birthday this year.
MotoGP is arguably one of the most spectacular racing series around with cutting edge technology, and intense competition at its core. The collaboration between Tissot and MotoGP makes perfect sense with the watch brand aiming for these same values in all its new releases. The two new Tissot T-Race MotoGP 2020 watches continue to reflect both institutions’ desires to push the boundaries in all that they do while also boasting brand new upgrades that imitate the changing trends of the motorcycles and their technology on the racetrack.
Both Tissot T-Race MotoGP 2020 Automatic and Quartz watches continue to illustrate both the qualities of the bikes and the riders. The sporty, dynamic and modern aesthetics take inspiration directly from the vehicles with chronograph counters mirroring the dashboard, pushers reminiscent of footrest pushers and fitted bezels suggestive of motorcycle tyres. Housed within, the Swiss made movements are developed to be highly accurate and reliable just like the qualities expected in a MotoGP rider.
One decision that was made early on in the creation of the two new Tissot T-Race MotoGP 2020 watches was that the cases would remain sleek in stainless steel and some red detailing would be added to the dial. In comparison to last year’s duo, which were created from black and rose gold PVD stainless steel, the new steel and red aesthetic takes the brand back to their roots and provides a much sleeker and sportier look that we are sure every aficionado of MotoGP will love to wear.
François Thiébaud, Tissot President: “We wanted to come back with some red on the 2020 MotoGP Collection as it is part of both brand’s DNA. These new versions are as modern as the motorcycles from which they are inspired. Tissot is already looking forward to celebrating the next eason with its longtime partner MotoGP with these great new products."
For fans of mechanical craftsmanship, the Tissot T-Race MotoGP Automatic 2020 Limited Edition is likely to be your choice out of the two. Housed within the 45mm case is an automatic winding movement which provides central hands for hours, minutes and chronograph seconds, two chronograph subsidiary dials, continuous seconds and a date window at 3 o clock. The movement can also be witnessed through the transparent case back where the oscillating rotor has been suitably designed to look like the spokes of a steering wheel.
The Tissot T-Race MotoGP Automatic 2020 Limited Edition continues to impress with a smooth black dial decorated with large Superluminova coated hands, bold Arabic numerals and a tachymeter scale around its circumference. The watch also promises a water resistant rating of 100 metres and is fitted with scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment and a black leather strap with a deployment buckle.
The Tissot T-Race MotoGP Quartz 2020 Limited Edition features a similar aesthetic but with a Swiss made quartz movement hidden within the 45mm stainless steel case. The dial also showcases a slightly different layout but with all the same functionality including a date window at 3 o clock and three subsidiary dials with chronograph function. Rather than large Arabic numerals, the quartz variation boasts sleek indexes alongside Superluminova coated hands on a smooth black dial. The watch also features a tachymeter scale, scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass and a black perforated leather strap with deployment buckle. To replace the exhibition case back, the Tissot MotoGP Quartz is fitted with a screw down case back decorated with the MotoGP logo.
Both Tissot T-Race MotoGP 2020 Limited Edition watches are expected to be released at the end of March but are available to pre-order today at Jura Watches. The quartz variation will retail at £625 and will be part of a series of 4,999 pieces. The automatic model will retail at £1,080 and will be limited to 3,333 pieces.
