DOXA Sub 200 C-Graph Watch Review

Following the launch of the popular SUB 200 collection earlier this year, DOXA have revealed a brand-new tri-compax chronograph – the DOXA Sub 200 C-Graph. Available in six stunning dial colours and a choice of a fine rice bead stainless steel bracelet or a new high-quality rubber strap in the same colour of the face, these accessibly priced timepieces bring an added touch of masculinity and functionality to an already established line of diving watches.

DOXA have a fascinating history with diving watches, one that began as far back as 1889 in Le Locle, Switzerland. George Ducommun, at the age of only 21, began his own business as a watchmaker and stories of his dedication and attention to detail did not go unnoticed. He fell in love with the intricacy of watchmaking and on one occasion is believed to have walked twenty-odd kilometres to deliver a watch to a customer. It wasn’t until the 1960’s, however, that DOXA truly made a name for itself in the construction of some of the world’s most innovative and distinctive dive watches. The DOXA Sub 1967 300 in particular brought the brand to fame, becoming the first general public divers watch with a helium release valve. Every DOXA Sub watch since has been designed as a modern interpretation of this very piece, including the new collection of DOXA Sub 200 C-Graph watches.

Engineered from 316L stainless steel and measuring to 45mm in size, the DOXA Sub 200 C-Graph watch remains a high-functioning divers’ tool with a 200 metre water resistance and a unidirectional rotating bezel. The bezel has been carefully designed so that it can be gripped underwater and by large diving globes with a serrated edge and a height of 17.4mm. For measuring dive times, a sapphire insert is included decorated in a 60 minute scale. The iconic DOXA fish logo can also be found on the case back and on the crown in vivid orange.

There is no shortage of choice in the DOXA Sub 200 C-Graph watch collection with six eye-catching dial designs to choose from. These include the signature Orange Professional, Silver Searambler, Black Sharkhunter, Navy Caribbean, Yellow Divingstar, and Turquoise Aquamarine. Protected by scratch resistant sapphire crystal box glass, the dials deliver optimal legibility with luminescent coating found on the indexes and hands. To pair with the colour of the dial, you can wear your DOXA Sub 200 C-Graph on a matching FKM rubber strap or a vintage-inspired rice bead stainless bracelet. The metal bracelet is fitted with a classic folding clasp decorated with the DOXA fish insignia and a wetsuit extension while the rubber band comes on a standard pin buckle.

Powering each DOXA Sub 200 C-Graph watch is an automatic chronograph movement based on the Sellita SW-510 B. It’s stunning tri-compax layout provides two subsidiary dials for 30 minutes counter and 12 hours counter and a small seconds dial at 9 o’clock while at its centre, we have classic hands for hours, minutes and chronograph seconds. The reliable chronograph movement continues to impress with a power reserve of 48 hours, 26 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and a stop seconds mechanism for precise setting.
