A New Generation of Breitling Heritage Watches Has Arrived
Monday - 21 July 2025

You could be forgiven for allowing your mind to instantly jump to thoughts of aviation watches when the name Breitling gets mentioned. The Swiss watchmaker is synonymous with creating tools for the cockpit and timekeeping instruments for the aerospace world. However, it has also carved out a very solid reputation for itself in crafting dive watches and has played an integral role in the evolution of the chronograph – both of which bring us to the point of this article: a new generation of the covetable Breitling Superocean Heritage watch.
Â
The original Superocean Heritage is already a high-spec dive watch, but the latest instalments to the collection will eventually see the older models phased out to make room for a newly powered set of automatics – six chronographs and twenty-two three-handers. Looking at these new releases now, compared to older models, it’s nothing short of fascinating to track their evolution.
Â

Â
The modern-looking Superocean collection, launched in 2007, drew inspiration from the bezel and handset designs of the brand’s original 1957 Superocean watches, albeit with smaller indexes than the original triangular-shaped ones. In 2017, the Superocean II launched, featuring updated bezels that replaced the former steel ones with ceramic inlays. Breitling also replaced its ETA-based movement (the Breitling 19) with the Breitling B20 – a version of a tried and tested TUDOR movement. This brings us up to the present day – where Breitling, just last week, unveiled a slew of new models featuring colour-matched rubber bands to their respective dial colours and stainless steel mesh bracelets for those who desire something altogether more refined and dressy. Here they are in more detail…

All The Deets You Need to Know About the New Breitling Superocean Heritage 2025 Watches
Â
To start with, it’s worth noting that all the new Superocean Heritage watches released by Breitling last week share some of the same features. Examples include their steel cases, the Milanese metal and rubber bracelets, and the ceramic bezel inserts, not to mention the steel clasps, which bear the iconic Breitling logo. That being said, there are also some new features to highlight. The bracelets now fit flush with the cases, while the dials, hands, and indexes have all undergone some subtle changes. For the most part, the spear and arrow-style handset looks more pronounced and sharper, contributing to cleaner and more disciplined-looking Superocean Heritage. They now reflect the dial details from the 1957 models more accurately as well.

The Breitling Superocean Heritage Chronograph
Â
The chronograph version of the new Superocean Heritage collection is available in dial colours of dark blue, classic black, and moss green. The black is the only one out of the three that flaunts luxurious 18ct rose gold accents for a more indulgent take on the dive watch. All three models are available with a choice of a Milanese mesh-style rubber band in the same colour as the dial or a plain steel mesh bracelet. The models measure 42mm and are powered by the trusty Calibre B01 – Breitling’s first in-house movement launched in 2009.

The Breitling Superocean Heritage B31 Watches
Â
The most exciting aspect of the new Superocean Heritage watch launch is the introduction of the brand’s new B31 movement in the three-handed models. It’s the first in-house automatic movement made by the brand and is showcased in the 40, 42, and 44mm models of the new series. The 40mm models are available in just two colours: black and green, while the 42mm sizes are offered in dial colours of black (with a steel case), black (with a steel and 18ct rose gold case), moss green, and dark blue. The largest of all – the 44mm models – can be enjoyed in dial colours of black, green, and blue, the latter of which is housed in steel and rose gold tones. All of the models benefit from the reliability and performance of the Calibre 31, which offers a power reserve of 78 hours and operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The movement has already been trialled in the Top Time watches that were launched earlier this year and are showcased through an exhibition caseback in all of these new dive watches, highlighting their perlage and Cotes de Geneve decoration.

Â
The Breitling Superocean Heritage 36
Â
The 36mm models are the exception to the rule. These smaller-sized models, ideal for the female wrist, feature the B10 Calibre, based on an ETA movement. The movement is concealed behind a closed caseback in these models, yet examples of Breitling’s watchmaking prowess shine through in all other areas of the case. The design comes on a choice of a deep blue dial or a stunning mint green dial – the most unusual of all the latest additions to the line. Once again, colour-matched rubber bands can be enjoyed in the Milanese style, while the metal bracelets are perfect for pairing with dressier attire.
