U-Boat Limited Edition U-42 Unicum Watch Review

U-Boat has launched the U-42 Unicum, a limited edition watch treated with a variety of ageing techniques.
Various components of the U-42 Unicum have deliberately distressed and aged, using detailed processes including acid treatment and hand painting. The handcrafted techniques mean that each U-42 Unicum is different and one of a kind.
The design is based on the U-Boat U-42 B&B, with a double superimposed dial (one bronze, one black) and a 53 mm case diameter. An acid treatment has been applied to its titanium case, dial, bezel and leather strap to make the watch look old and eroded. The hands have also been painted, discoloured and scratched by hand.

The watch is powered by automatic mechanical modified movement, personalised to U-Boat specifications. It is water resistant to 300 metres, and has a serial number hand engraved on the case back.
The U-Boat U-42 Unicum is limited to 99 pieces, and will be on display at Baselworld 2013.
