The New Tissot PRX Watches for 2024
Tuesday - 17 September 2024
Jura Watches presents a new take on the sporty Tissot PRX with these three new releases.
If you like Genta-inspired timepieces, the Tissot PRX has likely been a design you’ve explored before. It offers a range of three-handed models and some chronographs, all of which skilfully capture the Zeitgeist of the 1970s sports watch, in which legendary designer Gerald Genta played an integral role. Tissot PRX watches feature a distinctive and highly practical integrated bracelet, as well as a selection of guilloche dials. They also feature angular cases that honour the shape of those watches from the 1970s and are based on the manufacturer’s earlier Seastar watch, which launched in 1978. The watch also follows along a similar line to popular icons like the Nautilus by Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak, not to mention the IWC Ingenieur – all three of which were created by Gerald Genta.
Aside from the stainless steel options available through the Tissot PRX watch collection, you can also enjoy this design in a bi-colour variant featuring stainless steel and gold. The chronograph watches have been around since 2022 and make for an even more practical design, with stopwatch features that are activated by two push-pieces at 2 and 4 o’clock on the side of the case. What makes the Tissot PRX such a great investment is its Powermatic 80 Calibre. The watch makes for a very affordable sports watch and can be enjoyed in a variety of different dial colours, including silver, black, blue and green. Suffice it to say, the Tissot PRX went viral for all the right reasons and is still proving incredibly popular today. One of the key selling points of the redefining sports watch is its impressive power reserve, stretching to 80 hours once fully wound. More than just a luxury dupe, these timepieces are stylish, classic and sporty, making for one of the most popular sports watches to invest in right now.
For the latest additions to the Tissot PRX collection experts at the brand’s Le Locle-based manufacturing facilities have managed to combine both accessibility and aspiration. The models capture the brand’s unwavering dedication to producing designs that meet the evolving tastes of its discerning collectors and even include a new chronograph PRX. One of the key things Tissot has focussed on is making more dial colours available. In doing so, the collection becomes more versatile and accessible, appealing to a larger audience. Of course, the PRX has always been a symbol of quality and it remains important to specialist designers at Tissot to uphold these very same values, offering superb reliability and functionality within an affordable package. The PRX watch designs continue to tap into an audience that wants to relive their younger years -an era where steel sports watches ruled supreme. In doing so, these models appeal more than ever to the younger generation. They carry subtle retro elements inside a contemporary design.
The New Tissot PRX Watches for 2024
One of the models that seems to be attracting the most attention from within Tissot’s dizzying array of PRX watches is the one crafted from forged carbon and in a sleek black aesthetic. It is the first time a forged carbon iteration has been released as part of this collection and it looks incredibly contemporary. Considering the success of the Tissot Sideral, it seems a no-brainer for Tissot to bring the carbon case to the PRX line. While the Sideral featured a boldly coloured dial, however, the new Tissot PRX features a more subdued black dial for a more serious and tactile finish. The watch is also mounted to an integrated rubber band that looks incredibly sporty and practical. Lug-to-lug, the case measures 44mm making for a watch with quite a substantial presence on the wrist, despite its rather compact 11.2mm depth.
Tissot also drops a couple of beautifully coloured gradient dials to accompany this stealthy black number. The stainless steel 40mm models feature stainless steel integrated bracelets and come in a blue gradient iteration that transitions from a cool light blue to a much darker blue shade, and a blue-black gradient option. Both models play with the light in interesting ways as it dances in between the pockets of depth, creating an interplay of shadow and luminous light reflections. One of the fun things about these new Tissot PRX watch releases is the way the gradient effect moves from 12 o’clock to 6 o’clock rather than working from the centre of the dial outwards. These models hold the Powermatic 80 movement at their centre, providing a power reserve of 80 hours during those times when you may want to alternate it with another model. These watches measure a slightly thinner case of 10.9mm and the movement sitting inside it is also equipped with a silicon hairspring for resistance against magnetic damage.
The Tissot PRX watch collection has all the 1970s and 80s vibes that you could wish for in a modern sports watch. These new iterations are particularly fun and eye-catching, including the stealthy black forged carbon case. Perfect for hobbyists, sports watch enthusiasts, or Tissot fans alike, these models are sure to be met with resounding success as they infiltrate niche watch-collecting circles all over the world. For the price point, you’ll find very little to complain about within this Tissot watch collection. The textured dials add depth and visual quality to the timepieces, while superior materials like lightweight carbon and anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass are guaranteed to deliver a premium feel on the wrist.,
